Great watch mate, really enjoyed that. Weathering the wet stuff to come out with a smile on the dial. Good gear tips and packing tips. I had a good chuckle at the bare leg river crossing! No sun on them for decades 🤣 Actually from a safety perspective I take off my pants and gaitors in a flooded river too just to reduce drag but I’ll still wear boots for stability. Thanks for sharing mate. Ripper stag!!

Great video mate, thanks for sharing you're a legend, I been hunting in Victoria for 6 years now im yet to spot a stag, always trying to learn where and how to find them.. I been trying Mansfield last 4 years as everyone tells me they're everywhere there but I only spot fallow deer which I never shoot. Please if you know easier terrain in Victoria I can hike and hunt that will be great, because Mansfield is way too dense and I've had an Acl operation 2 years ago and I'm struggling to find easier spots to hunt. Mint vid lads. How long since the area was burning? Good regrowth
@solosambarhunter
@solosambarhunter 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Josh, Looking at the ground it looks like a couple of years since the burn in that area. We have had some major fires but as I have said the main reason for the feed is also the exceptional rainfall we have had through the end of summer and autumn this year, something we have not had for a long time. Definitely makes for the healthy animals. Last year they were starving from no rainfall and looked terrible. It should be a good year to get a decent head. (that is a stag I'm talking about).

Hey Kiwi bushman love you channel and cant wait for my 2 boys to get strong enough to get out there with me like your young bloke. The area was burnt 18mths ago so it should produce some healthy animals for a couple of seasons. Thanks for the comment and watching the vid.

Firstly congratulations on taking that awesome animal, heavy all the way to the top and I love the way they look when they are wider. I can't believe Mark hesitated? Did he owe you one or something? I remember back in 2013 when we had similar rainfall at the start of the year, the deer were all healthy and that year to me was so far in all my years of hunting Sambar "the year of the big stags". Loved the video, keep it up and don't listen to them about the legs, we'd all like to cross deep rivers and keep our balls dry.
@ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures
@ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures 4 жыл бұрын
hey Solo sambar hunter cheers for the comment. Nah Mark didn't owe me anything if anything I owed him one or 2 now, he is quite a successful hunter and rarely shoots in haste so I think he was just waiting for a better look but when I saw the stag looking in our direction I thought it was now or never and I didn't want to see him escape either of us. And yeah those legs have done a good job of keeping the tackle dry over the years. Thanks for watching

@ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures
@ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
deer wont completely move out if you shoot one but they might not use that paddock or gully for a week or 2. Predation is natural for all prey animals and they have lived with it forever so they learn from being hunted. Hunting pressure makes them smart , nocturnal but dosnt necessarily make them move away.
