Hey guys. Thanks for this review. I bought a 12 weight predator rod some years ago and haven’t put a bend in it yet. At least I have a better idea of what to expect when I put it to use. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Hi, is that 12w heavy?

@@gilmer4eaglesbrah Hey Gilmer. The rod isn’t that heavy relative to its size. It does have the additional cork handle above the full wells casting handle that adds a bit of weight. The monstrous 3 Tand reel filled with line sure makes it a beast. I did catch a nice permit on my 10 weight, but still haven’t bent the 12 wt Predator yet! Soon I hope…
New to fly fishing this year, I purchased this exact rod for striped bass! Thanks for the review 😃

Do you think a 12 wt redington predator could handle a decent sized tarpon? I've been genuinely wondering cause most of the "best" tarpon rods ive found would break my bank, lol!

Yes the Predator 12 would handle some pretty good size tarpon just fine. It's beefy enough for sure.

what would you recommend from Redington in terms of rod length/wieght for float tube fishing western mountain lakes that are often windy? thanks for the great content!!

I'd go for a longer 10'+ rod to get the line high off the water. When I was in montana last I was at a 10ft 5wt that served me well in the tube :) Depends on what lakes and what size fish you'll find there. But 10'-10'6" might be your route.
