I would probably have to agree with you on that one Ozzy. I think this is the first addon, where I look at a section of the cockpit and I can "feel" the weight of the control, the texturing of its surface etc. I don't know exactly how Fenix accomplished that, but they did a phenomenal job of recreating the flight deck of the A320! The addon is indeed a bit of a work of art. Cheers and all the best! : )

I've spent a lot of time trying to learn the A320 and fly as close to "real-world" as a flight simmer can manage. It's challenging even with all failures off, and I've been thinking about dipping my toes into the emergency procedures waters (but not quite ready yet). Videos like this are excellent, and I'll defiintely work toward learning these as time allows. Thanks for your efforts in sharing your knowledge! It's great fun.

Ah brilliant Txhunter, well I hope it's all going well! Certainly this was a somewhat "complex" failure scenario, but a great way to start, would be with very simple failures (like a single fuel pump for example), just to get you used to working with the ECAM etc. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and found it to be of use. Any questions, always feel free to pop by and ask (I should get around to a reply eventually haha)! Happy flying and all the best : )

You mentioned on final that pressing the autopilot twice should clear the master caution but in sim it puts it back on, this is due to most likely your AP Disconnect hardware button is bound to ''Toggle Autopilot'' in the sim and therefore triggers it on again. if you bound it to (I believe) Autopilot Off/Disconnect directly then pressing twice will behave like it does in the real world. I set that up personally on my TCA stick as that button in the real world is indeed only used as a disconnect. Excellent video as always!
@txhunter1442 жыл бұрын
I agree, the default key binding would result in warnings on landing until I made the change.

Thanks very much for the pointer Energyzer! I figured that might be the issue; some other Airbus addons have a little bit of custom coding to prevent this though. Hi JD, Generally speaking, I like all things simulation-esque; I also have EuroTruck, Elite Dangerous etc in my Steam library. Alas, I only really have time for one sim these days though and it tends to be MSFS, primarily as a result of the channel content. Certainly, flight simulators would be considered pretty tedious entertainment by many haha (most don't want to spend 30 mins doing "nothing"), but I'm really glad we're seeing a bit of a resurgence in the hobby : ) Cheers and all the best!

Really loved this more educational video. Honestly over time the same standard procedures over and over again wear out a bit, seeing this non-normals is really refreshing and it adds much to the content! Thank you! 💙

Thanks very much Ra, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I can totally appreciate that the same old routine flights / procedures could become a bit mundane and indeed I tend to feel that myself when recording. I try my best to make each flight interesting in its own way (and couldn't really dive into this level of complexity with any other addon), but I would imagine that these sorts of scenarios do "freshen" things up a bit (and also give everyone the chance to perhaps learn something new). For sure the video took a bit more planning and time to execute and I might look at some slightly less complex scenarios going forward, but of course this format opens up a wealth of opportunities for new content! As far as finding the correct pages in the MEL goes, that would probably be a whole separate video in of itself. It can indeed take some scouring, even if you're familiar and know what you're looking for. I'll consider making a video on the subject at some point perhaps. . . Cheers again! All the best : )

Hey there! I just arrived home from the GenFam training in Finkenwerder. And not only that - I lived in Paguera/Mallorca both in my childhood and later on for about 10 years. So I´m familiar with the approach to PMI as well. As a passenger, that is. And will be. Just glad the ram air and the leg fairings helped you deploying the LGs. Nice. The best thing concerning the realism in this "game" (other than the graphics) is the exact english accent of the Majorcan ATCs. It is 100%. Dammit, I´ll have to go and spend some money here. I want more! 😁😉

Hi CJ, Is that GenFam for flight training, or you're starting work with Airbus? Mallorca is a beautiful island. Amazing stuff! Some people have got to get it out of their heads that just because there is an Xbox version of MSFS that somehow it is a lesser sim. A video like this, the sim flown by an IRL pilot just goes to show the potential.
@IntotheBlueSimulations2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much once again good sir! The title is perhaps somewhat "inflammatory" haha, but I still occasionally get comments (even on this video) along the lines of; "MSFS is just a game for kids". Clearly that is no longer the case (if it ever was) and as with every sim, it's largely up the user what they want to make of it. That being said, of course some people do enjoy using MSFS as a game and more power to them! Asobo's sim has been brilliant for the hobby in general - I don't think us simmers have had things this good in many years. I'll never understand why a small minority are so averse to "live and let live", but that's the way of the world I suppose. . . Anyway, rant over haha! Thanks as always : )

That being said, I think / hope this video demonstrates that the design philosophy works; the ECAM is indeed another excellent piece of design and saves rifling through numerous pages of a QRH etc (the main reason I never run any failures on the PMDG 737 - by the time I'd found the correct page, we'd have landed haha). Much as I have been a Flight Simulator pilot since 1992 and enjoyed every minute of learning all I can about aviation, it will always be armchair flying, virtual reality headsets are further increasing the absorption but it will never create the sheer monotonous receptiveness of long haul flights or even of the short haul flights daily grind like Lands End to Scillies and back three times a day. Ask any professional pilot and they will tell it is just a job.
@IntotheBlueSimulations Жыл бұрын
Hi Ron, Well, like any job, I think commercial flying can be a bit of a mixed bag. There are certainly days / flights where it can be quite mundane, even unenjoyable, but at other times commercial flying can be genuinely great fun / quite special etc. No job is perfect, but it’s nice to be able to fly, work with different people, see new places and so on. Simming is an enjoyable endeavour in its own right and whilst quite different from real-world flying in some respects, the joy of learning, discovery and challenging oneself, still very much exists in MSFS et al I find : ) Cheers and all the best!

I've not flown the default A320 for over a year, are the flight dynamics still fluffy? It always felt weird to me when coming to touch down, like too much lift from the flaps. I did FSX and a real level d sim and felt those were the most accurate. The graphics are great though. I think PMDG was making a new one but needed to work with the game company on tweaks
@IntotheBlueSimulations Жыл бұрын
Hi WA 4K, The default A320’s flight dynamics are certainly much improved, as compared with when the sim released (the flight modelling of the default jets was frankly awful initially). The default A320 is still so-so, but okaaay by default standards I suppose. The freeware FBW A320 mod offers a significant improvement and certainly payware aircraft like the PMDG 737, Fenix A320 et al, are all broadly on a par with payware aircraft in other sims. I hope that clarifies things a little? All the best : )

In the same way that FSX was, MSFS was never "just a game", and just like FSX/P3D it has been up to 3rd party developers to make it into the sim that we all knew it could be. I hope that A2A gets their Accu-sim Comanche soon, because that will be when MSFS is no longer "just a game".
@IntotheBlueSimulations2 жыл бұрын
Hi IJ, Haha, well I just went with the title because I *still* occasionally get comments along the lines of "MSFS is just an Xbox game for kids" and clearly we are well past that at this stage. As you allude to, no sim is ever *just* one thing; any sim can of course be a game, it just depends on how one chooses to use the software. We already have some pretty cracking addons in MSFS, but I strongly suspect A2A's addon will be the GA "icing on the cake" yes. All the best!
@NightOwlGames2 жыл бұрын
its never been a game for me, each aircraft is its own simulation it teaches you and maybe you find yourself in a real life situation where something bad happens to the pilot and you an economy class passenger gets to save everyone on board because you played a simulator and had an idea on what to do.

Well, everyone seems to see MSFS differently haha and I went with the title because I still get comments along the lines of: "MSFS is just a game for kids". At the end of the day, I actually don't think it matters what one chooses to designate MSFS as, but as you allude to NOG, it's what one does with the software that actually matters (and the sim can in fact be used in quite some depth these days). Cheers and all the best : )

Well, you can play "MSFS as a game" with most default airplanes and make it as easy as you like with the different assistance modes. So for the public that likes it to play easy and just do what they like without all those difficult stuff, it's perfectly possible. On the other hand, for those who like the simulator part of it and want to get "As real as it gets" there are many more possibilities and creators like Fenix and PMDG can get you very far into reality. Combined with stuff like Vatsim and detailed manuals, procedures and for some failures, it's amazing and if you see how amazing it has become since the introduction of flight simulator some decades ago...! For some it's an (Arcade) game, for some it's a Simulator.
@IntotheBlueSimulations2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely Martijn! That's really what I was getting at: MSFS does a great job at straddling the line between a game and a sim, but clearly at this point it is not *just* a game. Personally I don't think the distinction is all that important anyway and people should absolutely enjoy the sim in the best way they see fit! I only went with the title, because I still see comments along the lines of; "MSFS is just a game for kids" and I would say that is demonstrably untrue at this point. All the best! : )

Im not to far into the video but what really strikes me is just how many systems are effected by the one inoperative unit, which is probably an LRU. Not only does it show just how "computer controlled" the A320 is but also just how good the simulation. And yes, I am one of those grumpy old bastards that dislikes when someone calls my simulator a game. :)
@IntotheBlueSimulations2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely CG; although I must admit, I initially rather unintentionally chose a failure with a lot of knock-on consequences, but I soon realised it would (hopefully) make for an interesting video. It would be much more typical to see an MEL item with no / few operational procedures to follow and often the aircraft could fly with the failed item for weeks at a time (whereas here we had a much stricter time limit until repair - for obvious reasons). I certainly hope that the video demonstrated just what a good job Fenix (and ProSim to be fair) have done! Haha, well I've always taken the approach that just about any flight simulator is both a sim and a game, it just depends on what one wants to do with it. Neither use case is wrong, but I chose the title because I still get comments (on occasion) of "MSFS is just a game for kids" etc and hopefully I've proven here that whilst there is still work to be done on the core of the sim, it's as good (if not better) than any of the competition at this point. Cheers! : )

Finally someone is daring to go through these detailed electrical circuits of this simulated Airbus, and the interesting failures. :) Thank you very much for this video. But I have a question, since the last Fenix update there is always a bunch of circuit breakers mostly hidden behind the movable cockpit seat tripped. "ENG 1 and 2 OIL PRSS & REVSNSR CHAN A and B", and "BRK TMP DET UNIT", and "THIS ACTR LSSD". There is no error message on the ECAM, it makes no difference if these circuit breakers are in or out, they seem to do or change nothing. Is this not yet simulated? (It seems to be oil pressure and thrust reverser sensor channels, the brake temperatur sensor, and I have no idea what "this actuator LSSD" means). Oh and are you planning to make more interesting videos about the electric circuits in the Fenix, and electric failures and system emergencies?

Great video, loved the technical aspect. What is the best way to simulate MEL items in the Fenix Airbus?
@IntotheBlueSimulations2 жыл бұрын
Hi Speedbird, Thanks very much, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Well (if I understand your question correctly), for this video I just created some programmed failures (as obviously I wanted a set pattern of events to unfold), but the most realistic way, would probably be simply to have random failures turned on and deal accordingly with anything the addon throws up. Does that help? All the best! : )
@puckthefens69342 жыл бұрын
its a game without the fenix a320.
@IntotheBlueSimulations2 жыл бұрын
Hi PtF, True, the Fenix / high quality 3rd part addons make a huge difference in the MSFS, but that has really always been the case in any sim. The video title was somewhat tongue-in-cheek at any rate; most "flight sims" are either a "sim", or a game, depending on what the user wishes to make of them. Cheers, all the best! : )
@stevewhan73082 жыл бұрын
I do appreciate the scenarios, and obviously the value in practicing a pre-planned failure event. Awesome vid, thank you! Wondering if it’s possible to configure the sim to activate a totally random failure at-say a nominated % chance occurring per flight, whilst line flying normal sectors? Or are failures only pre-determined? - that way you never actually know whether or not an adverse event may occur!
@IntotheBlueSimulations2 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Steve, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! It depends on the addon, but certainly most of these complex addons (the Fenix A320 included I believe) allow the user to set random failures, based on percentage chance etc. Obviously that would be the most realistic option and indeed can make for some interesting scenarios also. My pleasure on the video! Thanks for watching and all the best : )

Hi Amedeo, It sounds like you're using the default version of the A320 within MSFS? The aircraft used here, is the payware Fenix Airbus A320 - a 3rd party addon. You can purchase the addon of course, but also consider giving the FBW mod a try for the default A320 NEO (if you haven't done so already) - it enhances the default Airbus quite a bit and it's completely free! I hope that clarifies things a little. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching and all the best : )

I only run at 1080p though, hence why I'm able to maintain high FPS / relatively smooth performance. I do also spend quite a bit of time tweaking the lighting and weather in many of my videos (both can make a huge difference in how the sim looks). I hope that helps.
