Gday Josh….I’m getting along a little in years these days and the body can hardly remember when the hips and knees would be pain free, but your videos put all these complaints to rest….So many memories are realised with all your presentations and I am sure there are many like me who appreciate the invitation to share some of your day with you. Thanks Josh.

I am always impressed with the skills of those who drive semis but B-double drivers who can back two trailers at once is amazing.

Brings back some memories that does! Spent most school holidays in the truck with the stepfather carrying sheep, cattle, goats and pigs. Looks heaps easier than loading from the rear door like we has too. My brother lost the tip of his finger when he had his hand in the wrong place winching the ramp up. Most places didn't have those fancy double ramps back then either.

Thanks, Josh. When I was growing up cattle trucks were all single deck, single trailer. I thought they were impressive!

Same here on the Isle of Skye and Inverness Scotland. I well remember seeing the first double deck ever to come down the North End of Skye! The roads there are single track. Says a lot for the driver of that machine.

Interesting way to load. The double decker ramp sure makes life easier to load and easier on the cattle. Might suggest some sand on the chute, would quiet down the noise as well as help with footing. Thanks for sharing the way you folks do things in Australia.
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 6 ай бұрын
The ramp is all concrete and it has big grips in it all the way to stop them slipping. All the noise came from them on the truck on the steel floor.

Gee Josh , it never ceases to amaze me how well that property is set up with the infrastructure. Makes for easy cattle handling. A credit to the property owners. Had a couple of spectators in those two bulls checking things out. A Hereford and the other one was a different breed. Speckle Park maybe 🤔

Very interesting Josh indeed. I have never seen cattle loaded that way before. Here in the Scottish Highlands we load from the rear,also its one deck at a time. The way that its done in Australia appears to be a better method. Thanks for that Josh.

Loading Livestock is my pet hate 😡 but you seem to have it down to a fine art ! Our double deckers all load from the rear, if they don’t want to go it drives me Nuts🤯

Yes they can be a pain but I think side loading does make it a bit easier.

Hi Josh, that was interesting to watch, thank you. How many Head were in the large Trailers compared to the small ones and are there slightly fewer number Top Decks compared to downstairs, to keep a lower Centre of Gravity, please? Also, did you Fabricate the Access Gantry, or is it a commercial product? I'm just interested from an Engineering POV, after seeing you fab Fences and Gates. I started to watch a vid like this some months ago, but the Operators were swearing, ridiculing and calling the Cows names and hitting them with Sticks (too often) which I didn't care for - even when Cattle are going to the Slaughterhouse, they deserve Respect. Thanks for posting.
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 6 ай бұрын
No worries mate. The larger trailer is twice the size of the small one. It holds 20 head top and bottom and the smaller one holds 10 top and bottom. They got a fella in to build all the yards and the loading ramp a few years before I started working here. But the fella who built them never even had a plan on paper. He just did it out of his head. We have done a few extensions since then. But they work really well. We try and keep the cattle quiet and when loading we only use the electric prodders if we have to.

@@intothenight1993 That would be around a 42 ton load. I would have guessed around 500-600 to keep within legal weight.
@tallboy49
@tallboy49 6 ай бұрын
They have what is called volumetric loading where the trailers are built to a required length so the bigger the beast the less numbers can be loaded so the weight is not a problem

Hi Josh, this is probably a stupid question but do you ever get close to one or two of your cattle and you don’t want to sell them I know it’s a stupid question but when you deal with animals and you probably won’t answer it
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 6 ай бұрын
No it’s a good question. We do have pet cattle that have been hand raised due to different circumstances and they are so quiet we can rub them all over and they love it. But they all have to go too. It is sad to see them go but it’s why we have them.
