It's been hard work and a lot of patience but Otha's eventualy paid off. Trapped a dog and a fox and shot a decent boar.

Great job Josh. Vids are getting better all the time mate. When i was a young bloke in the 70's, an old fella taught me to set a chook up in a sturdy mesh cage with a rabbit trap at each corner. Caught a lot of foxes that way, of course, not allowed to use rabbit traps now but had to go around every morning before light to check. keep up the great content mate.

It all depends how many I have set. I usually pin point them into an APP on my phone called Avenza. But at our home block I know the place nearly as well as the back of my hand so I remember where I have put them.

Hey mate love your stuff as usual. I've never trapped a dog in my life but it made me nervous when you got close to the dog and it was going wild in the trap. If it wasn't properly caught it might have gotten loose which would not have been ideal. I'd be popping it off from a good distance even though the video might not be as clear. Nice pig too!!! 👍👍
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Yeah i usually do try and shoot them from a distance as they usually sit better for a quicker shot but there was too much grass in front of him so i couldn't see him properly. But i knew he was caught good enough that he wasn't getting out and i had faith in my cable eyes that i braided.

Well i pulled all my dog traps up today as its actually a week since since i got that fox and there has been no dogs past since. It was a good 15kms or so one way through the paddock to go and check them every morning before work so it will be good to not go so far for a while. Trying to trap foxes close to home now as there have been a few getting around here again. Hope I can get some. They have been playing hard to catch so far.

G'day Josh Well trapped with the dog mate plus the fox as a bonus. A QUESTION please, did the trap you used for the dog include the cable you spliced on the vid the other day. Can't forget the big boar to complete the trifecta. Cheers
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Yes im pretty sure that was the cable I made on the other video. If not it was exactly the same as I made about 10 of them the same. It held really well. Just the heat shrink slid off a bit and exposed the sharp cable ends. Was thinking i might try crimping a bit of copper pipe over or soldering them to just tidy it up as the dogs will probably chew the heat shrink off if they are in for a while. I don't think this one had been caught for long when I got there.
@iantonkin1143

Josh, another alternative is to use liquid weld which is not only super strong but quite handy for any number of jobs that crop up around the place. I imagine it would be dog chew proof too🤔😉

Rabbits an occasional fox, muncjak deer, Chinese water dear,crows,magpies, loads of pigeons. I leave the hares they don’t cause any trouble and all my night shooting is mainly rats thousands off the buggers around here, but good fun. It’s just to cold at the moment will get onto the Covid’s as soon as lambing starts. I use sako 223 CZ .17 hornet thats really got some power blows rabbits to pieces at 150yds no joke. Ive also got a 22LR and a couple of air rifles sub 12ft/lbs and lastly an old shotgun ive had many years SKB o/u. I would love the amount of land you’ve got. Probably fit the UK on your place.🤣

Cool. I've watched videos of people ratting with air rifles and it looks like a lot of fun. I don't like rats haha. In always wanted to try a 17 hornet it a 22 hornet. Would be a nice cheap round to reload that shoots pretty flat. Haha our property is only about 9000 acres but a nice but of dirt.

Nice boar mate 👌 Gd to c u waiting till u had a bigger rifle for the pig as I’ve found many light caliber projectiles lodged in the fighting shield of big boars that didn’t even get to reach the flesh!! I know they r a bugger of an animal but I don’t want to make an animal suffer needlessly by using a inferior caliber? Stay safe budd 🤙
