Little hints we got at the start: When we first met Garp he kept falling asleep as a result of trying to break a donut-eating record. With that in mind - don't tell me you don't find yourself suddenly asking 'how did I not guess they were related before'. And When we first met Dragon, we probably didn't notice these at first because we were too wrapped up wondering whether or not he caused that storm, and by his saying things like "the world is waiting for our answer" or "what reason would there be to interfere with a man's departure", that we probably don't notice him saying other things like "a pirate huh? well that's fine by me" and "if that's your decision, then go", and don't ask why he would be saying things like that - like he was giving Luffy his permission or his blessing to become a pirate. We don't wonder if he didn't sound proud of him until after we find out that Luffy is his son.

It's a small thing, but I really like Robin and Luffy's relationship post Enies Lobby. Luffy is willing and unashamed to ask Robin for more information about things he's confused by or ignorant of, and Robin is happy to explain things to Luffy, simplifying her explanations without mocking Luffy. It's very wholesome. :)

The reason why Luffy saying "Don't mess with him," is such a big deal is you gotta remember Luffy is afraid of pretty much no one so him being genuinely afraid of his grandpa is shocking to the other straw hats especially when you consider the fact he essentially said "I'll declare war on the government for my friends!"

I love how the crew talks about Dragon being a dangerous man. I had the exact same reaction you did, they're all pretty damn dangerous too. Then when Robin says pirates don't declare war on the World Government, all I could think of was Sogeking shooting down the World Government flag. Luffy, Dragon and Garp all seem pretty different, I know. In a lot of ways they are different but in some very critical ways, they are the same. It's not openly stated, but it is heavily inferred.

Why is Grap still working in the organization even though his son and grandson are indictors? 1. Grap can still work in the navy organization because he is a navy hero. He is very strong. and has good relations with the Navy The military chose to keep him as a legend for all sailors. 2. The world government and navy don't want to lose a legendary figure. By kicking him away 3. The Navy doesn't want to be the enemy of tough people who have worked for the Navy a lot. Having Grap here will help train a lot of new sailors.

“Its been years man” funny enough from when Luffy met Koby till now….its only been like 3 months. The Strawhats journey has waaaaaay faster than it feels but most of these arcs literally take place in the span of a single day. From Baratie all the way to the end of Arlong Park was all in one day

It could be 6+ months btw... Since the end of marineford marks the 1 year of Luffy 's journey. And we all know that marineford takes 2 weeks at the most from Amazon lily to there. So by estimation, it's even safe to assume 6-7 months have passed since the start of journey. And remaining 4 or so months is spent from thriller bark to sabaody and after which reasonably the pace is quickened coz of the war saga.

@@SoraToshiAki Correction. From Thriller Bark to Sabaody was a couple of days not months. In chapter 490, they depart from Thriller Bark and then the narrator states “Several Days later” which then leads us into the Duval stuff. After that, on that same day, they arrive on Sabaody.

Aokiji states this when he first meets them that their growth rate is too fast and they’ve done so much already which was why he changed his mind after saying he was going to let them go since he thought “Wait these guys might actually end up being a problem if they keep going”. From East Blue to End of Marineford, at BEST it is like 4 months MAYBE. It might even be 3 honestly because we actually don’t know how long it took Luffy to go from Foosha Village to the start of Baratie but after that Oda consistently starts having the narrator tell the reader how much time passed after a arc. Its wild to think about but from Baratie to the end of Arlong Park fight happens in a day. However….. here’s something INSANE. When you actually sit down and look at the dates that the story tells you….everything from the Foxy arc to the end of Marineford all happened….in one month. So if anything Luffy being shocked that Koby grew is valid though he probably just hit a growth spurt but whats more shocking is that Helmeppo grew a bunch of hair in the span of probably 2 months.

And - well this is much later, and it's more a case of 'for a few second he looked just like' and then a couple of hundred episodes later someone else says something like "I know that look" about Luffy. Luffy sometimes looks like his dad not so much through his appearance but more through his expressions. It's not often but it's seen.

Garp is…powerful. Very. I know you're on Marineford so you already have quite a bit more information than we got here. Garp is powerful enough to be the Fleet Admiral, even at his age. The change in Coby is pretty dramatic considering the timeline. It's only been a few months since they first met. Can you say growth spurt? Tom built the Oro Jackson for Gol D Roger. We still don't know a lot about the meaning of D. There are a lot of theories, though.

6-7 months honestly. Use reverse engineering. 1 year for marineford end means 2 weeks from Amazon lily to end of marineford. Even if you give 2 months from thriller bark to sabaody, that still leaves good 9-10 months till the start of thriller bark. Even if you consider travel time to thriller bark = 1 month, that still leaves 8 months at hand. So easily it's atleast 7-8 months from ep 1.

Was given promotion to Admiral but declined because he want to be free to do anything and not being controlled. Monkey D Dragon = The most dangerous criminal marked by the World Government and leader of the Revolutionary Army Monkey D Luffy = who is aiming to be the pirate king
