INTP vs ISTJ - How to Tell Them Apart?

I'm an INTP who mistyped as ISTJ in a high school personality test and later mistyped as INTJ in adulthood. The whole habits and routines thing stems from my autism. I'm pretty sure my Ti is stronger than my Te.

Same, i always get either intp or intj or istj even istp That i don't even know what's really my mbti type.

The same thing, my test result was usually ISTJ, but as I got a little older, my result became INTJ, but with my correct knowledge of cognitive functions, I knew that I was INTP.

Thanks for this video which focus on a rare type hesitation. Being unable to distinguish INTP and ISTJ seems counterintuitive at first glance, but some people do fall just between the two categories. I've personally been hesitating for long between ISTJ and INTP because of a high Si and a more professor-like style recalling Te-aux. I'm glad to find such an explanation !

Si is a significant function for INTP because of which it is actually easy to mix them up.

@@senor2930 yes, I personally totally identify with the "creature of habit" archetype of high Si, examplified by famous philosopher Kant, who never went out of his town.

INTP and ISTJ is hard to distinguish because ISTJ is known on the internet for being focused on facts and facts= logic which is typical for INTP. Or facts+ details but if you have all the facts and you don't forget a detail in any of those facts, you have logic. In ISTJ's case these are facts in S way- which means- what exists, what is there, what has already been discovered, doesn't go to the what ifs. INTP does the discovery. Both of them have pessimistic Ne- ISTJ is scared of Ne consequences because of Ne inferior, INTP takes responsibility for consequences of their actions because of Ne parent- both make you responsible and Ne is connected to Si which is connected to responsibility, safety... (ISTJ's main quality how they're described on the internet is: the responsible one) INTP has Fe inferior which means scared of people.

@@enlightenedglass7879 interesting explanation, I hadn't thought of such common points between both types, especially about the Ne. But that totally makes sense, and might explain why INTP may sometimes seem far less funny or exploratory than ENxPs, with the notion of parent function you describe

ISTJ vs INTP: do you live in your body (Si- my body) which means in your senses through which you perceive the reality- ISTJ or do you live in your head/thoughts? (Ti) (your body is just a transport for your head xdd because of Se trickster (obviously INTP has senses so they're not blind xdd))- INTP So are you attached or detached from reality/present?

Ahahah I typically identify to the latter 😂 so many people tried to teach me how to be less in my intellect, more in my body, with no effect... A transport for m'y head sums it up pretty well !

People struggle between ESTJS and ESTPs honestly I think that’s very easy to tell apart. ESTPs always have a more accepting attitude in general and normally they have a very distinct look with very well kept hair and aesthetic clothing. You will see ESTJs with longer hairstyles but they are way less care free and extremely focused on a task and it’s organization

As someone who has currently been debating what is my MBTI since it pretty regularly varies between ISTJ and INTP (sometimes even ISTP) have basically been stuck at the juncture since I exhibit traits of both pretty strongly. Would like for there to be a guide or book on how to narrow it down.

I have had the same experience. Tested as an ISTJhigh school and undergrad but then an INTP in grad school. I think it is best to look at the functions do you use extroverted thinking (Te) is your style of thinking more practical an action oriented with immediate real world impact if so you are most likely an istj or are you naturally an introverted thinker (Ti) and your thinking is more abstract an analytical and outside the box thinking that may not have immediate concrete consequences. If so you are probably an INTP.

I find them pretty easy to tell apart. The types that I find hardest to type are the EXXJs

At work I am ISTJ and on my own time and personal life I am INTP. Is that make sense?
