That's a good way to keep oneself from impulse buying. I often find myself satisfied with just knowing that something caught my eyes exists. In case of online shopping, except when i know for sure I need to get certain thing asap, I would just add to cart and leave those there. It's also to wait for vouchers or sales once I notice the patterns (like how Shopee push sales by having a sale wave at least once a month on the date when the numvers of the day and month matches, e.g. August 8th). I could talk myself out of impulse buying based on their practicality, costs, and place in my place and life. I also use similar guidelines when choosing gifts. If I still lean more one getting that thing after that inner debate, it's probably something I really want, need or both so I'm more likely to buy those. It's slightly different when it comes to buying something for charity, though. In this case, if the product meets my personal values first, and either aesthetic or practicality rating, and is reasonably priced, I'm very likely to buy it immediately. I don't recall impulse buying much and if I did and the stuff I got wasn't satisfactory, I didn't repeat the same mistake. Impulse contemplation and getting lost in thoughts, though, is another problem.😅

Happy birthday! 30s are the best years in INTJ life i belive - we have developed our low stack functions, and life is kind of easier (i hope) before I learned MBTI concept I have been arguing with myself for a long time - it was Te and Fi clash, and now i'm able to recognize that because i still have that clashes for exapmle: Fi "I REALLY don't want to do it, I hate it" vs. Te "it has to be done to achieve something". After therapy it looks more like "I hate to do this, but i'll do it quick, so i dont have to deal with it anymore" just like Te and Fi come along together. So when i saw that "inside out" scene i laugh for a while, it was like 1:1 how it looks like inner dialogue inside my head. I think, that INTJ charisma and sense of humor comes from Se. I really can imagine that all functions just sitting and chilling in peace, and then comes Se in scarf and sunglasses: "we gonna do something cool".

@justcallmejon224 ай бұрын
Thank you! What type is your mom?
@Phillia_crochet4 ай бұрын
@@justcallmejon22 I suspect her to be an ESTP. We seems to have the 1st and 4th functions inverted: She can understand the way I see things but it take her sometimes. I can vibe with her but it also took a lot of persuasion and time. She is easily distracted by things happens in physical world, running around dealing with spontaneous tasks all the time, while I'm distracted by thoughts, ideas and concepts and can get lost in my thoughts for hours. She's good at dealing with practical and situational issues but lack the foresight while I'm more focused on dealing with the root cause and sustainability in the long run and more likely to come up with a more immediate solution much later. Together, we work quite well as a problem solving team when our emotions don't get in the way. We are both similar in the fact that our immediate response to an issue is to find a solution so we must have similar problem solving and get things done functions in the 1st or 2nd place. Mine is the 2nd as I enjoy getting lost in my thoughts and learning about topics that caught my interest yet turn on my "get things done" mode when there's a task to get done to the point of skipping meals or sleep. She's extroverted, as in being outgoing, preferring being around people and focusing on and easily distracted by the outside and physical world. That's why I put Se as her 1st function. Regarding emotions, it seems like she has Fe lower in her function stack as she seems to be better at showing sympathy towards others but can't seems to understand emotions on a deeper level. It's evident when I tried to emotionally connect with her and tried my best to convey my thoughts and feelings. More often than not, she pays more attention on how my external expressions and what's socially/ culturally considered appropriate instead of what I'm trying to convey, and often advises me to just take them lightly or brushing them off as me being overly dramatic. She's more externally expressive than me but also complains that people are too emotional. Also, she talks a lot more than I do despite us being both women (who have a tendency to talk more). She often talks about work or trivial things. I usually do the same when it comes to work or things related to us, or on a random topic I'm intrigued by or is interested in. Small talks come naturally to her while I need a script like those practice conversations in a language learning textbooks. She also more opinionated and can be more openly judgemental while I often see things more objectively and wait for more information before making an opinion. As far as I currently know, this seems to show the differences in Ti and Te. I began to psychoanalyze her after realizing how similar one of my favorite character is to my mom. I'm still new to this cognitive functions and the theories behind them so this is a tentative conclusion.

@@justcallmejon22 ya it doesn’t seem so bad and it’s fun to work on, the key is to have the robots communicate through eachother allowing robots to be further apart and still communicate like Robot A wants to send data to robot C but they are too far from each-other, however robot B is in the middle of them so robot B will relay the signal. The hardest part gonna be making a coordinate positioning system that is shared between all robots (we can’t use GPS) but I have ideas for how to make it work. Some professionals I asked said it wasn’t possible but didn’t want to elaborate why, but to me it seems straight forward. Once we prove that works we can get more funds to make it more application specific, and add cameras and possibly object detection and other features. I am in college btw I am hoping this project helps me get a job after.The economy kinda bad rn so I am trying to look into improving myself and my job hunting abilities and skill sets.

As a Ti Dom, I would also say that my primary question is why. I think that why might be defined differently depending on who is using the word, though, while that may still be the most accurate word. When I use the word 'why', I mean 'what is the cause or reason for a thing to happen'? I'm looking for a systemic relationship. But why is still the question that applies better than what, because we're talking about causation - why did something happen, not what happened or what could be done about it. I guess, perhaps, you could release the Ti question as "what is the cause", but that's a rephrase of the question 'why' and the reason is equally valid when considered next to the question of purpose. I think (but please correct me if I'm wrong, so I can learn something!) that Ni dom means 'what is the purpose of a given thing' when they say why. I think they're going down a path of essence and archetypal nature of a thing, rather than a systemic nature like Ti would. That's my take, but, of course, leave it to the Ti Dom to follow a great video with, "well, actually, let's clarify these terms"... 😂 Thanks for the video, your content is great!
@justcallmejon22 Жыл бұрын
The more I learn and witness Ti, the more I realize how closely it resembles Ni but with a different focus. Maybe that's why INTP and INTJs are so great together 😁
@brittaniloschiavo4850 Жыл бұрын
I think you're absolutely right! I think the resemblance between the two functions causes a ton of confusion on the internet, with people attaching behaviors to thought processes and conflating Ti and Ni, bc the users do a lot of the same things, but for slightly different reasons. We can easily look the same, while thinking very differently. I think it adds more confusion when you consider that many descriptions of a function give an explanation that one person might interpret one way and another interprets another way, so two people using different functions suddenly believe they're doing the same thing. An example is knowing the outcome of a thing - Ni can know this based on its comprehension of the essence of a thing, the archetypal nature tells it what the thing will do (I think, but if I'm wrong, please correct me and I'll learn something!); Ti knows the logical emergent - if the system is set up like this, and it's parts are defined this way, then obviously that will be the result of it being activated. They're actually doing two different things, but if asked, they would both say they know what will happen and get ripped as Ni; alternatively, I've seen Ni described as a function that can shift into other people's mental perspectives to understand them and the impact they create through a form of abstract patterning within the Ni user's own mind. The thing is, Ti can do this too, but Ti is asking questions and making arguments within its own mind to determine what kind of mental thought structure the other person is using to come to decisions and understanding. Some manifestations of Ti can very easily get inside another person's head and predict how he will behave or what he will want, but it's all based on constructing or finding an already existing mental framework for a person who matches that pattern. The Ti is creating a framework of thought principles that operates like a lengthy logical syllogism to explain the way each person thinks or each philosophy is constructed, and then it tests that framework for logical consistency within the framework itself (the principles match with each other logically or they don't, but that doesn't necessarily relate to the Ti user's or anyone else's framework to determine whether it's correct - is more about testing validity). So if the Ti is doing this all the time anyway, just for the sake of understanding the world, it becomes easy to do it just to understand the other person's perspective bc it's natural anyway. Then the Ti user says he can perspective shift and gets typed as Ni, and his experience of Ti goes on to confuse the anyway limited understanding in the community about Ni. The point is, many of the things written on the internet that are attributed to Ni can easily be done by Ti, but for doesn't reasons and in different ways, but going by behaviors will cause you get mistypes, because, like you said, Ti and Ni can behave very similarly. What is so helpful in this - what you do so well - is explanation with examples about how the Ni or Ti Dom thinks about a given situation, what the process of thinking is and how the function goes about coming to a conclusion or behavior, because that's where the true comparison is. I really like your content because it's so useful in parsing out what Ni is actually doing, and laying out what it is actually like to be in your head. HeartofMichi does the same thing for Ne on her channel, and both of you produce content that is incredibly helpful in understanding what these functions are really like, so thank you!

I like the goal of this video, even before watching this, I'd like to write down my thoughts about this topic based n my personal experiences and thoughts: - I like to use the % values of the MBTI test and my reaction to more extreme situations -> my % values are qute at the extremes regarding my 'I' and 'J' (90%+) and only 56% 'N' and 60% 'T' - the extreme % values are out of questioning, those are mine and stable, but the lower values... I've checked on the friend types and found some description that are closer to me sometimes, than the INTJ description, still, the INTJ parts are slightly more often, but I can more easily 'swap' my behaviour through persona changes in specific situations - looking back after watching your video about the topic of 'mama is out'... yes, I had those and yes, previously I thought I was depressed, but wasn't exactly sure, even tho somethimes I had thoughts about suicide, those thought processes ended up with the result of: naah, I fkin like to exist, I want to know more about how stuff works even if I feel weird at the moment.... then 'mama came back' and stuff got done - one of the key details about finding out if I'm truly an INTJ is that I so much hate details and menial tasks... but when I do them, I do them effectively and efficiently

If we all inevitably go through midlife crises, better to get out of our system early. I believe it's a coping mechanism that we develop to better prepare for the future.

Still wondering if my husband is an ISTJ and INTJ. He says he thinks he is an ISTJ, but was once an INTJ. But I have a hard time believing people change their MBTI. The main confusion comes in with him enjoying physical activities when he does go out and the laziness which is typical of INTJs of spending more time figuring out how to avoid doing something than would actually take to go do something, He also liked the idea of being the puppet master pulling the strings behind the scenes when it came to doing the tech for his high school. But he has a huge aversion to trying new things and is a huge believer in the value of tradition over innovation.
@VatIva Жыл бұрын
You should look into socionics. MBTI got Si completely wrong, that may be the reason, your husband isn’t sure. Si is actually about comfort in the present moment and does not have anything to do with tradition. Ni on the other hand is completely detached from the present moment. It sees the present not really as present but rather as the gap in between past and future. Ni-dom lives in their head, Si-dom lives in the moment. Si is very good at listening to their body. It is also very good at decorating, or making the house look pleasant. Ni might appreciate a good looking house, but doesn’t really see the point in doing all that work, since in their mind it is completely unnecessary. Ni-dom is always thinking/imagining, Si-dom is always in tact with their body’s needs and know exactly when they should sleep or eat or whatever. Ni forgets to eat, sleep, they even forget that they have to go to the toilet. Again, you should look into socionics‘ description of Si and Ni.
