I recently accepted a job with an engineering firm where around 50% of the work is AutoCAD. Problem was that throughout school I only used SolidWorks, and I found the two programs to be very different so it was difficult learning it on my own. Well, I've watched mostly all your 2015 CAD videos and they have been SUPER helpful. Thanks so much Christian!!

***** thank u for your attention, what I meant i want to insert the same block to multi layer,I give you example: consider we have many layer in the drawing like layer A ,layer B ,layer C ...etc and want to insert a block (like water valve) to each of these layer,I roam on web and just found excel macro to insert block to autocad by make a CSV file in excel containing block name,X&Y insertion and scale but not involving the layer...thanx again

Choosing "by block" will also have the block object relinquish its properties to the layer it is dropped into and it can be on any layer (not necessarily layer 0) so you can make any layer behave like the 'special' layer 0.

Killer videos, Chris! Quick question though: Is there a way to make an editable text field inside a block? My situation is that I'm working on electrical drawings, so I might have 10 or 20 relays and each has a different text label associated with it. When i try to simply add a an Mtext into the block, I don't seem to have a way to edit a single instance of that item without exploding it first. Do you have any slick ways around that? Thanks,

Great videos Chris, much appreciated. watched most of them as I'm a newbie with AutoCad (last time I used AutoCad, it was still version 8 or 9...;-))) and really helped me a lot. I do have one question regarding blocks: I received a drawing from a colleague in another part of the world and he used blocks. How can I use and save one of his blocks into new drawings that I'm creating? This is what I cant find in this Tutorial 12!
