This was very interesting and the narration was clear, well-stated, and easy to follow. It amazes me how far game creation has come - user-level game/level level design and content creation is now more complex and advanced that working with professional-level 3D modeling programs like Infini-D 4 or Ray Dream Studio way back in 2000-2003 when I was doing it. So crazy.

I haven't bought this software but i'm interested in trying my best to learn how to make a game with this. I have no knowledge of coding or how to make a game of any sort. This program looks easy to manage but it's the coding that's holding me back. Is the coding for this to difficult for a new guy like me?
@ryouk279 жыл бұрын
From what I've seen a lot of the coding is node based so there wouldn't be a lot of actual cod wiritng. However when it comes to that sort of thing I know looks scary and tough but once you get to know what the weird shorthand means, its pretty easy and very very logical, if/then sort of stuff. Its learning the basics functions that's the tough part but after that its smooth sailing. Tldr scary as it looks its not very difficult.

When you say an item, such as shadows is expensive, what do you mean? Do you have to pay for each separate feature you use? Sorry if this is a stupid question!
@vladflorea58410 жыл бұрын
Hi, obviously I'm not the video's creator, who I'm assuming you asked that, but I may be able to help. He is referring to that feature being "expensive" to say that it is stressful on a pc's graphics card. Having many of those lighting features would cause a lot of lag, so they should be used sparingly. Hope that helps.

I just started looking at cryengine, (coming from unity), but do you have to have the standard guns in when going into the gamemode setting, or is that just for the level editor? What I mean is that when you start to create your own game, you don't need the standard viewmodel (hands) and gunmodels, right? Sorry if this question is extremely vague, but Im trying to explain it as best as I can :P

Steefen Turtle Hello Steefen! I do not use Cryengine or will, but I have played around with it and I can honestly say to you that it is a great engine for everything! It does it's best work with terrain and environment as you may notice! You can script your scenes and customize almost everything into your own liking! I am currently working with the old Valve Engine (Hammer) which is out of date to the more modern games. If you want to work with something easy to learn and just have fun! The Hammer engine is great and simple! (Also free if you have a valve game.) The Unreal Engine is amazing for rendering real-time scenes and a bunch of games of the market today is made from the Unreal Engine. This does not mean that it is the best engine... But since a lot of people are working in it, It's got to have some quality to it! :) Have a great day!
