@@voxyde is this the main industry workflow? or r Hollywood pros using other tools/pipelines too? (i know a lot have intern tools which r not available for public, but those who use all big public 3D programs, this right here is the best most used way right)
@voxyde3 ай бұрын
@@bUildYT The really big studios have a lot of pipeline tools they built internally, but a lot of smaller sized and even medium sized studios are starting to adopt the USD workflow, because it's all given to you for free since Pixar made it publicly available. And when it comes to USD, Solaris in Houdini has by far the best implementation and most tools to author USD files. This is why I invested a lot of time in learning it, because I believe it's the future.

@@voxyde a freaking mazing! (doing ur ultimate VFX workshop rn too btw, so good!) did u tip ur toe into Ai implementation too already? because no matter we like it or not, thats part of the future too...
@voxyde3 ай бұрын
@@bUildYT Haven't tried anything AI yet. Coming from traditional arts like drawing, AI is an abomination to me haha, or at least generative AI. If AI can speed up simulation times somehow in the future though, I'm all for it. Great to hear you're enjoying the workshop!

Bruv, I have been hitting Houdini so hard for so many months. Your series, right here, brought all the fragmented patchworks together into a single, unified quilt. The community needs to take note, this is how to convey complexity. By keeping it realistic, and simple. Plenty of time for complexity in the future. But there is no time to waste, when pouring a foundation. Thank you so much for understanding, then sharing.

thanks for all the info you're sharing, you're a natural when it comes to teaching. If I may, it would be really useful for many ppl if you know how to handle personal materials library / catalog / database in houdini/solaris to do a tutorial video on the subject, there's almost no info available about this (except maybe in usd doc I imagine)... I'm so tired of recreating materials over and over. I've seen some ways, with .hda, but it seems inconvenient. USD asset might be a way ? Since it's managing the texture when creating assets ? Well, I'd love your take on the matter !

Thanks so much for this!😀At this part of the video: (1:01:45) I don't understand why you need to change the reference type to payload, I've just tried the same and it seems to work too (creating duplicates and changing the variant etc in stage manager) when left as 'reference file'..🤔 is it for another reason? Thanks!

What are the advantages of Solaris over redshift's traditional processes? Which workflows are better suited for individual designers
@voxyde3 ай бұрын
The only downside of Solaris is the initial time investment needed to learn it. Other than that there's only advantages :) I highly recommend learning it for anyone, individual designers or otherwise.

Everything works fine if I apply non uv based textures with instancer in solarisis. But the problem comes when the mesh has proper uv. I have a bee model which have proper udims tiles and textures. The texture looks fine before it got instanced. If I used instancer node in solaris. The texture goes black. After that a while I figure it out that the model uv disappeared or stretched after It passes through instancer node. Is there any solution to fix that.?
@voxyde14 күн бұрын
It shouldn't really affect the UVs when you pass it through the instancer. It might be a different problem

Is Solaris’s good for solo artist. Because it looks overwhelming sometimes to work with. I am a huge blender user and houdini for simulations. After worked in blender. Houdini Solaris workflow looks weird for me. I agree that it is good for a team works. But as an individual solo artist or with small team. It is not suitable in my opinion for faster workflow.
@voxyde3 ай бұрын
It is good for solo artist! Once you get to know where everything you need is and how it works, you can be pretty fast. It's definitely faster and more efficient than the old SOP workflow. Can't speak for Blender though!
@cr4723Күн бұрын
You'll be faster in any program than in Blender! This video shows too much. Many things shown here are superfluous. You dont need output nodes, you dont need paths ...
