Maybe a little too late, but great lesson, Ryan, thanks so much! As you said, I´m used to play on minor scales mostly, but I need to learn a bit about major riffs and soloing on major for playing at the church, and this is just perfect. Greetings from Venezuela. Struggling times here, but praising the Lord helps to keep peace of mind, heart and soul. Thanks again!

Just finding this and it’s awesome! I was converting my E-B-A-E to relative minors (6th) of each (C#m - G#m - F#m - C#m) then using that to play minor pentatonic. Turns out it’s just called the major scale….. now I see why I keep resolving on a different note than the minor. I’ve been resolving on the tonic. This lesson is phenomenal bringing all the licks into it and explaining the why behind it all

Just have a question if someone can help me. I'm early intermediate so this may sound stupid to some Pros. Normally when I play G major I play starting at 5th fret and I play the scale that would be the third position in a minor. Problem is on this video where he starts in position one on the 2nd fret doesn't tie in. If someone could explain that to me I would appreciate it.

Are these positions numbered differently in the UK.? I've seen where the pattern you call shape two is called shape 5 in some literature from the UK.

Good stuff. But why do so many guitar KZbinrs seem incapable of saying “pentatonic” without then playing a bunch of pentatonic licks that not only don’t apply to the lesson, but are played too fast for folks to learn anything?

So if a song goes in A major, it is basically the same thing if I play the minor pentatonic in F sharp. The notes are the same. Am I right? So basically what's the difference between minor and major pentatonic scales?

It’s all relative. You can bet F# minor is in the A major key and vice verse. Depends key of the song based on what you would call it
