I use sbus on all of my long range planes i find they have better range also . I need to get me one of those 3 in 1 readers so handy in the field .another great video keep them coming take care

3in1 programming card is Detrum specific. I’d be curious to hear more about your range observations with sbus receivers. The wireless frequency is 2.4ghz regardless of the RX output protocol, so I’m interested your experiences on this.

@@RCVideoReviews I just noticed i get more range with my Taranis and frsky rc on sbus and better latency and less to almost no brown outs as i get with my Spektrum

Robert Ortlepp I have no personal first hand experience with spektrum and brownouts but I’ve seen it on multiple occasions. There was a park in Phoenix where I used to fly and one corner of it was off limits to spektrum pilots due to brownouts. Never had that issue with Taranis in that corner. I’ve never done any data gathering on range with FrSky Rx’s other than L9R which I know will fly at least 3 miles.

Very helpful, I'm not sure you are saving connections though, everything still gets plugged in. Just servo wires are plugged into the stabilizer instead of the reciever.

Unless you're running a device that doesn't have servos like a quad...And you do save 3x3-1 wires by eliminating s/+/- for ail/ele/rud from a standard Rx to a standalone stabilizer or flight computer. If you have a Rx with built in stabilizer there is no s.bus.

@@RCVideoReviews ok however the example you showed was with servos, and the servos all have wires. Maybe I'm being pedantic. I like the idea of sbus but saving connections on a fixed wing isn't a selling point because everything still needs connecting. Either one wire from the reciever to the stabilizer, or one wire from the stabilizer to the reciever. No ?

This video alerted me to arranging the channels in the correct order. I didn't know this could be done -persevered with my DX9 and now it works. Nearly threw it away. It would have helped if the rearranging was shown. Thanks

I really wanted to know if sbus is useful in a normal fixed wing situation without a flight controller/stabilizer. I can see how there's a slght advantage with a stabilizer. For example, could you run a single wire from a wing aileron servo and flap? I still don't understand sbus from this video.

Hi! I am doing a project on the binding of the taranis x9 lite transmitter with xm+ receiver to connect with the arduino to control four servo motors of a quadcopter. I have binded the transmitter and the receivers but i'm not sure how to do the control of the servo motor using arduino. I would like to hear your suggestions. Thank you.

@@RCVideoReviews John, I have an X8R ch1-8, connected via the sbus port to a S2PW pwm sbus decoder, now I get ch9-16, so 16 channels in total. Works very well, compact and in expensive. I have repeated the setup with the same items and connection. But ch9-16 aren’t showing, it’s been some years and I’ve forgotten if something was done to set up the sbus ? I wondered if you had come across this set up before or might have some pointers on how? Thanks

I am using a Copilot lite wth a R9 slim OTA There is Sbus in, Sbus out. on the FC Sbus has 3 pin signal 5v and ground. What goes on the signal pin? Sbus in, or SBus pit?

I am still very confused about SBus. I have an airplane which requires 10 channels, and I have two Radiomaster R88 receivers. Can you help me understand how to get ten channels out of the two combined receivers ? I am drowning here.
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 2 жыл бұрын
One Tx talks to one Rx. You can't have one Tx talk to two Rxs. The R88 is an 8 channel Rx. To do what you're suggesting you would need to an an external module like an external Multi-Module or an XJT and you would have your external module bind to Rx1 and the internal module bind to Rx2. That would give you 16 channels. Alternatively you could hunt down a R161 or R168 which are both 16 channels of s.bus.

so to get SBUS you have to get an other receiver to go with it???? I have a R168 receiver do I need to get something to go with it to use SBUS???? I am totally new to SBUS.
@RCVideoReviews

No, you need an s.bus receiver. The R168 is an s.bus receiver.

so are all digital servos able to be programmed for sbus?
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I follow your question. If you're asking if all digital servos can respond to SBUS, the answer is no. They have to be SBUS servos to respond to SBUS. Usually if you want to use SBUS, you have something between the SBUS Signal and the servo like a flight computer or a gyro. There are SBUS servos though, so you can communicate SBUS to servo.

Hi John, thanks for the video. I recently purchased the FrSky Tandem X18SE to pair with a Hobby Eagle A3 Super 4 gyro. I'm entirely new to trying to understand sbus configuration for my EDF model which has 2 aileron servos, 2 elevator servos, 2 flap servos, 1 rudder servo, retracts and LED's. Historically, I've always run each servo on it's own channel for the benefit of individual sub-trim and endpoints per servo. Can I do the same with an sBus configuration? Also, I ordered the TD R10 receiver today thinking I would need the additional outputs on the receiver for the 2 flap servos, retracts, LEDs and master gain. However, I feel as if I may be misunderstanding my direction here. Any help would be appreciated..

A3S4 has 5 outputs. You can choose what they are. That means you get 5 and only 5 discreet channels to run through the A3S4. Depending on the receiver, you can run other channels via PWM pins, but that's starting to get more complex than I'd be willing to get into on YT comments. You'd need to join discord and ask your questions there.

5 wires? s.bus takes 3 wires on every device I've ever used. +v, -v, signal. I've never used 5 wires on an s.bus connection.

@@brettmcconnell8040 sport and cppm are not for sbus. cppm is a similar protocol allowing multi channel in a single signal stream. sport is for sensor connectivity. They are not used for sbus.

Very helpful video 🙂 Are there any issues I should be aware of (e.g. servo current draw) when using an sbus receiver (with an sbus to PWM converter/stabilizer) in place of a PWM receiver for planes ?
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 3 жыл бұрын
sbus devices don't deliver current, that will come from the BEC. So the sbus line is signal only and the converter/stabilizer will be responsible for current to the servos.

it's certainly a useful and interesting video but unfortunately you tied the explanation of protocols and digital transmission with stabilization modes etc. that those who fly a rc airplane can just guess. I think it would be better to split the concepts to make clearer the concepts

SBUS without a gyro or FC is generally useless unless you have SBUS servos which 99.9999% of the servos out there don't support. SBUS is a single wire signal protocol. Its best use is with a gyro or fc of some sort.
