From wikipedia: Three distinct word roots with the meaning "snow" are reconstructed for the Proto-Eskimo language *qaniɣ 'falling snow', *aniɣu 'fallen snow', and *apun 'snow on the ground'. These three stems are found in all Inuit languages and dialects-except for West Greenlandic, which lacks *aniɣu.

This - the arbitrary nature of language, the system of representation via exclusion, the diferentiation of things - leads to some pretty good insights in terms of individual identity (for Lacan how one is what one is not ), or in terms of systems of power (how one who possesses knowledge and thus language is able to subjugate others).

Fucking love peirce. The first and only philosopher who I have really concentrated on. Got into Peirce from my interest in theoretical and General life sciences as a 20 yo drop out and had a series of mystical experiences while 'scribing' crude graphs of semiosis during nitrous oxide use basically the same variety of experience Peirce's friend William James wrote about but with peirce and diagrams instead of hegel and words. Curiously while doing it I stumbled across mediation and dynamic semiosis and my diagrams became hexadic on their own. I didn't understand any of it until I learned enough about Peirce's late sign typologies years later and now im starting to make more sense of it. I think the qualitative MOA is that nitrous makes your neurons relate in a 'fuzzy' way that prohibits discursive thoughts from being integrated into memory as relating to anything in particular, allowing for Generals to be thought of by a more general kind of mind. The nitrous oxide revelation was well known to the late victorians. I can't get it any more. maybe the neurochemical pathways wear down over prolonged use? maybe they were open in the first place because I was doing big psychedelics and peirce & biosemiosis were stretching my mind to a radically General kind of thought, and now in my effeteness; I am burdened with a deceptive familiarity Ongoing research on nitrous oxide and ketamine in the treatment of depression and other psychatric conditions may support my hypothesis: that general anesthesia allows some, under amicable conditions, to access a more general kind of mind. Or at the very least it is where to start on the neurochemistry aspect but I don't remember the details.

>:/ scoundrels, how dare you pay-wall the path of inquiry. am I really going to have to pay for a podcast so to listen to a frenchlet get peirce'd?
