Triangles often have masculine connotations owing to the use of the circle and arrow for the god Mars, whereas for women, the symbol was a circle and cross. An arrow head is simply a 2-sided triangle.

Very interesting. Curious about this. Feels like so many impressions could be attached to shapes, I suppose those are fluid, and depend on context, but interesting to also think there are continuing conscious or subconscious cultural ideas.

I think triangles are notable with Mitsubishi, namely the relationship between them and the name of Mitsubishi. "Mi" is the native Japanese word for "three", and is still used in counting as "mitsu". Triangles also have 3 sides, and it is notable, as well, that the logo is also split into 3 diamonds. Also, with the association to power, Mitsubishi was formerly part of the powerful, old Japanese "zaibatsu" which were large financial cliques that had a lot of power over the economy in Imperial Japan. Just thought this was worth bringing up, as it has a deep relation with both the company's name and history.

Is it possible for an artist to be so naturally talented and not know shape theory and still follow these rules? Is it possible for an artist to just subconsciously know this because it looks great, and the art gives a feeling? So it must be right which in turn uses all of these shape theory rules?
@TipTut3 жыл бұрын
I don't believe in the word talent in the context of design, but yes things can look inherently pleasing and you can of course use this stuff without realising. In design, it's better to understand, because your work has a purpose, and you have to consistently fulfil that purpose.
