Intro to SHO processing Astrophotography in Photoshop

Did you set a reference frame in DSS? That way you would avoid having to align the stars in Photoshop.

I'm going to suggest that when you stack your images, you use the same reference file for all three filters. I uncheck the reference file when I stack, but later on it avoid the alignment issues. Edit. I hadn't read through the comments, apparently it was a common thought. I do appreciate your work though. Thank you.

When I work with mono data in SHO, I only do linear stretches. I typically only do hyperbolic stretches with OSC. Mainly that is just to be able to use gradient exterminator. That plug-in works best with linear data before its combined into RGB format. As far as the hubble palette goes, if I remember correctly I usually start with green in selective color and remove all of the cyan. And then go to the next color up which I think is yellow and also remove all of the cyan. The rest can be played around with a little bit but you should be able to get pretty much all of the green out of it without any other function. Whatever green is left after selective color usually looks fine, but for the people who don’t like green usually you can just go in the curves in the green channel and pull a curve down slightly which will remove the rest of it. Also when the mono version of each image for each filter is stretched, you want to match the gray levels as much as possible before you combine them into RGB. That makes it easier in selective colors to get that Hubble pallet look without having to mess with anything else after that.

Thanks for another great video. Really interested in the way you are processing these mono camera images, I did the same move getting an ASI1600MM! One question though. Why don't you align your stack images using a single reference frame in DSS? That way your images are already aligned when you open them in PS.

@@AVAstronomy well after I copy them over to the channels of red, blue and green, I can't get all the channels to show at the same time to blend them Maybe I have the settings wrong on photoshop.
