Excellent lecture. Good use of PowerPoint as well. I'm in a Sociology class and was looking for more information on stratification. You made it very clear. KZbin is a great resource help learn and understand a subject. University of KZbin? Worlds Oldest College Student and disabled veteran.

I think that social class begins with the financial differences and then the social interests follow out from there. Some people exhibit social class markers that are different from their actual wealth, but determining wealth, like determining the meaning of social class markers, is somewhat blurry.

In South Asia, the caste system is still prominent. There have been incidents where so-called untouchables were beaten to death for entering into a kitchen of a person from high class. Only a handful of people from lower caste are able to change their status through education, political power and economic growth.

Hello. Quite tired here. Been researching like crazy but cannot find the difference between social stratification and economic stratification.

Good point, it is difficult to find out what a person's financial status is but you can make inferences from their line of work. However, social stratification follows educational differences, or at least differences in literacy - whether the person actually reads and writes in a relevant manner, or whether reading and writing is purely functional which holds for the majority!

Very good verbalism but I think you shouldn't use to Powerpoint because these videos are needed visual objects.

Most likely, she is. As unbelievable as that sounds, check out the color of her skin and her name. Affirmative action has unintended and embarassing consequences.
