I've been modeling for almost 35 years (since before Windows existed) and I have to say, this is by far the absolute best intro to Spatial Material in 3D that I've seen! You clearly have a great understanding of what you teach and you are even more clear in the way you present it to your viewers... out of a 0-10 (with ten being the best) I give you a 15! Cheers!

"Depth" is changed to "Height", for those who cannot find "Depth" under the material.

AWESOME!!! Thank you so much. I'm coming from Blender and wanted to start for so long with Godot at first just with some easy things like Import Objects, Creating Materials and that Stuff.., But i was struggling where and how to start. :D Because these kind of things i already know from Blender, but setting it up in Godot if you just start was a bit of confusing. :D This helps a lot! Good work. :)

How come I always get black meshes instead of the soft bluish ones you get? also, some options like Depth and Subsurf Scatter don't appear on the list.

I think that when we create a new material, spatial shader should be the first option instead of visual shader

Can somebody please explain why the PBR setup in Godot looks so much different than UE/Unity/Marmoset/Painter? I imagine this is a color space difference, but Godot always seems a little off when I use properly calibrated scan data when compared to really any other PBR system. Can somebody please enlighten me?

Every rendering engine has a different look. Now, looking at how the default looks in Marmoset and Unreal, I would suspect they apply post-processing to the rendered images by default, while Godot doesn't. So a possibility is that you need to set up your `default_env.tres` resource to use post-processing effects like adding the film curve, things like these. I would imagine that's what these other rendering engines use by default (color remapping).
@elektrofox2746

@@Gdquest You are correct about default post processing being a potential complicating factor, but I'm talking about raw scenes with all that stuff disabled. I suppose some things may be hard coded in some renderers, but something like Substance Designer shouldn't look as different as it does. Will continue doing more research about this, but from what I can tell there is something off. For clarity (not clout) I've been doing material and lighting work in games for well over a decade now. I'm confused as to how I can't get Godot to look anywhere near my other renderers.
@Gdquest
@Gdquest 3 жыл бұрын
@@elektrofox2746 I'd get in touch with people working on the renderer. They were trying to get something that looks like Blender's Eevee a bit during 3.0 dev, but I think Godot 4's new renderer is getting closer to solid defaults.

Hello, is there any other method to texture, besides this one, and special cases to be careful of when editing with low poly / cartoon style?

I wanted to ask a question about the running kickstarter campaign: Will the content created be suitable for someone like me who is not very skilled at programming and just knows the very basics? Like if else statements, variable types, iteration loops and a little about arrays and list etc. For instance I know how to build a state machine in in GameMaker studio 2 using enums and such. 10 days left on the KS so please answer soon ;)

Is it possible to make a "splatmap" of these? I already have a splatmap implementation but it only works with flat textures.

L'équipe de Godot a travaillé sur un export gltf 2 pour Godot, c'est un format libre bien plus moderne, ça marche beaucoup mieux. Je le conseille

Project > Project Settings Then under the "General" Tab: Rendering - Quality then under category "Filters" there is MSAA I would also recommend you to set anisotropic filter level to 16x. It's not that performance intensive and makes a real difference in how textures look

Hello, first of all, great video, it helped me a lot, and second, I have a question if someone can help me: I imported a net pbr for a basketball game, I see that there is an "Opacity" .jpg but I don't know in which module add it since now my net is completely opaque, thanks! :)

like if I made a mega texture in substance and basically crammed all the uvs of a whole scene into one uv map and now I made a texture that essentially applies to every object in the level but I don't want to have to drag and drop the same files over and over again all the time, is there a way to make the texture universal?
