Intro to The Bushcraft Show

A quick chat about The Bushcraft Show and the presentations that will be taking place in the Prepper Zone.
This is an awesome show that brings a lot of interesting people together and has a lot of great activities to see and take part in, plus lots of mega kit to check out.
I also talk briefly about the new UK Government Prepare website, which is an interesting new development for lots of reasons.

I have been a prepper all my life due to growing up in the southern parts of the US. My Kiwi, Scottish wife at the time would always get on my case for adding small items like extra batteries, candles, white gas etc… to our shopping cart as a young couple with young kids, saying I was wasting our money on frivolous items. But then a few years later we had back to back hurricanes and the power was out for two weeks with large trees and debris blocking to road ways. No one could go anywhere in our neighborhood and we lived on a Marine Corps base at the time. Many of our neighbors were running out of food and basic supplies but we were just fine with the gear I had stowed away in my shed. We helped out several of them who were desperate with MREs, candles, and water. Several of these families also had small children as well. It was beyond me why none of these families had any extra items in their home at all. My wife finally said to me, I now understand why you did what you did. After that experience she started adding a few extra items on shopping days to the cart as well.😂 Especially for small children like extra diapers and baby food items, because these families ran out completely. I must say, we became much closer with our neighbors during that time, but after the roads were clear and the power came back on, they all went back into their little bubbles again. Just hoped they learned something from all that.😊

Will keep an eye out for you there. There certainly seems to be more of a prepper gathering at the BC show in the last year or so, Lofty Wiseman did a good talk on prepping without even calling it that.

I will not worry about the fact that there is some idiots out there that say bad things about your videos because they have not an idea what it is to be in trouble . Thanks again for your time

Sadly I’m away so I can’t get to the show. Some good points well made on the topic of being prepared. There are far too many naive people who simply don’t have a clue how to act and what to do in a high stress situation of various types. You can’t legislate for every eventuality, but a basic set of prep skills should be a must for everyone.

The Prepare website has obviously taken some time to get ready. Interesting that this was in preparation for months. Yes??? Made me Swear when I realised the advice for getting home . 🤔🙄

Good stuff mate, good luck with the show. I agree we are about to face some pretty real stuff. I will say, if we listen to everything, if you live by the coast or on a flood plain, getting an inflatable kayak or dinghy or something isn't a bad idea at all. Look at Ukraine when the dam went, most downstream didn't have a boat. Both actually and metaphorically. Russian state tv said the UK will be underwater if it kicks off and they have tsunami weapons.

I wish I could attend... Unfortunately here in the States, everything is so damn "political". The show in general, and the medical presentation sounds great... I'm a veteran & former EMT-I and just earned my certification in Basic Wilderness Life Support, and now studying for the Advanced. Cheers to all !
