Great tutorial and content. I'm glad to see someone is covering this since most of it is about GPS and FMS nav. As you said, it's much more involving and satisfying to fly VOR and have to keep track of where you are and where you're going. I learned about VOR by flying the Captain Sim 707 and Ready for Pushback 747-200, and it's much more satisfying than just programming a route into the FMC and take off, engage the AP and go play with your dog. I hope you continue the series.

I'm ready to follow along. I've been trying to master VOR navigation using a 1987 book I picked up at a 2nd hand store, "Learning to Fly with Flight Simulator" by John Rafferty, and not having much luck. Flight Simulators were quite different then and it's easy to get lost in the translation. Can't wait for part 2.

It definitely takes some getting used to, Roger. When I first started simming in the 90s, this was the only way to navigate, but even for me it took me some time to re-wrap my head around all the concepts for this video.

Hey Mark, I used your 737 tutorial series with doing my first flight in it and it was amazing. You did a great job with explaining the routines with the plane. I had a quick question, will you be planning on doing it with the Concorde at all?

That's an interesting question, I have considered covering the Concorde because it is such a unique aviation icon, but I don't see it happening in the next few months unfortunately, I've already got a ton of other content lined up. I'll definitely keep it in mind though!

SoFly presets is what I used for the clouds for the thumbnail. It’s in the marketplace.

That's Navigraph, it's a paid subscription product, but if you flight sim regularly, it's worth the price.
