Very random but I love how you baby talk him :) the cute voice gets his attention but you still pronounce properly, and that is super important for their future speech
@annasophiekoerbler59644 жыл бұрын
Zoey R as a linguist I can tell you it doesn’t. The high pitch and exaggerated vocals are actually very important. You can look up features of ‘child directed speech’ (CDS) if you’re interested. But just simply put, it’s actually NOT good to talk to baby’s like you talk to adults or older children :)
@strawberrycherrybaby4 жыл бұрын
@@annasophiekoerbler5964 I know how CDS works, I'm a full time nanny and special education assistant. Improperly pronouncing or using 'baby words' does have a negative effect on their future speech, as they don't see how to properly form the mouth and tongue for certain sounds. And the use of 'baby words' by the parents like 'baba' for bottle, 'bwankie' for blanket, etc can delay both when a child learns to talk and when they learn proper pronunciation. Some people talk like idiots to children and then wonder why their four year old only uses a couple dozen words and doesn't form sentences.
@annasophiekoerbler59644 жыл бұрын
Zoey R well, if we’re talking vocabulary it’s a different story. But literally none of the evidence shows that ‘properly’ pronouncing words to a baby makes any difference in childrens’ speech later on.
@strawberrycherrybaby4 жыл бұрын
@@annasophiekoerbler5964 Then you haven't looked at any evidence. The higher pitch and exaggerating some vowels can help a baby learn. But pure nonsense words don't help at all, and kids can have trouble dropping the use of those nonsense words as they get older.

I thought the same. My mom did the same with me and I ended up talking very early and better than most other kids in my nursery. I’m planning on doing the same with my kids :)

He's adorable, and so vocal! My son had his first surgery at 2 months old, he has cleft lip. It was tough going through that but he had a hard time eating so obviously it was necessary to do so young. I'm glad you can wait until he's a year old tho. And it's very minor. Cleft lip/palate surgery has come on amazingly, my uncle born in 1957 had a cleft palate and my dad only had a one day summer holiday every year (a trip to the zoo) because they had to save up for his surgeries which he had so many of growing up. He had a lisp and his lip was very noticeable but it seems like kids these days born with it, the surgery is so much less invasive and the cosmetic results are so much better.

I was curious about the Anxiety medication. I've been trying to conceive for over 5 years now, and we are currently waiting to go see a second fertility doctor for a second opinion. Thanks for sharing all of Connor's cuteness with us. He is so handsome 😍🥰

My OB has told me it is perfectly safe for me to be on my anxiety meds, and beta blockers (heart medication) through my entire pregnancy and afterwards. That it wouldnt negatively effect the baby, and that it actually is very very important that mom stays mentally healthy and as stress and anxiety free as possible because that will negatively effect your baby in utero. My pcp took me off all my meds in fear and had thought it had the possibility to harm her. But my OB has been very vocal about it being safe and to please take my meds if I need to (I have an anxiety med that stays in your system temporarily to help with panic/anxiety attacks, which can be taken up to 3 times a day if needed, and will not cause withdrawals if not taken for a few days). Certain depression medications can be harmful, so it's important to communicate with OBs to make sure the meds you choose are okay. But some doctors are really against it, due to lack of knowledge, fear, or simply not treating mental illness seriously. I hope you can advocate for yourself, and find a good doctor who is willing to work with you. :) ive had doctors who push me off and treat me like I'm crazy for thinking I need the extra help in order to stay sane. Your mental health can effect your body overall, can cause your body to have trouble conceiving if you are very stressed or struggling mentally (also struggling to conceive could be many many things, and I'm not trying to claim I think anxiety meds would fix it for you! Just sharing information!). I wish you luck and so much joy on your journey, and that a baby comes your way in the perfect timing and your pregnancy goes well :)

Thank you, for so openly sharing your experience bonding with Luke and Connor. It's great that you're so honest about how different the process can be. When he was 2 we decided to have it removed (and tested, it was just a harmless tag). We tell him he was born with a brain antenna. Last school year he had to make a timeline of his life with pictures. He included a picture of himself right before the surgery and labeled it "had my brain antenna removed, still receiving signals". I laughed and cried when I saw it. I hope your little man grows up believing he truly does have super powers! Kids are just amazing.

I produce a lot of milk too and it was so overwhelming for my second child she was drowning and not feeding well. We made the decision to exclusively pump and bottle feed her so we know how much milk she's getting and making sure she's full. With my first baby, we gave up breast feeding him after 3-4 months for various reasons but if we'd only pumped I think we would have made it the full year.
@mondasseh874 жыл бұрын
Not to sound judgmental. I know how hard it is to exclusively pump. Did you try to continue just pumping some of the milk then feed her the rest? After a while, milk supply usually adjust to your baby needs and recede
@oCakeable4 жыл бұрын
mondasseh87 Pumping has been so much easier actually. But we tried everything and just decided it wasn't for us. We'd have had to transition to bottle feeding eventually anyway when I went back to work so with this baby we skipped right to it.

I over produce a lot too! My second was successful in breastfeeding (I also had to EP for my first). But she would get way too much and choked too in the beginning. I had to pump a little or hand express for the first few weeks BEFORE feeding her so that wouldn’t happen. Basically my first let down, the one that sprays everywhere and would choke her. And gradually I’d pump a little bit less out each time so I didn’t have an over supply.

Then my daughter came home and we connected right away. When a week later my son came home I didn't feel the same with him. Like you I loved him and was thrilled to have him home but it was different than I felt with his twin sister and older sister as well. A week later he got sick with RSV and had to spend 4 days in the hospital and thats when the connection happened for me. I think to often new moms are told they need bonding time in the hospital and for some moms it takes longer. I wish more people would talk about it and let new moms know it's normal and it's ok.

@@Kt-cn2rq Or be grateful you have kids. I know someone who's younger than me and can't get pregnant in her 20s. If you're overwhelmed, get someone to help or talk to. I didn't have a good environment growing up, and no one needs to be scared off from coming into themselves. Uplift.

@@Kt-cn2rq at age 7 kids normally already are fully toilet trained...so yeah yo usually just have to stay "awake at night" until they are like 4. BTW no I don't want to have children either, but is just basic information to know.

It makes me happy to see you so happy with him ❤️ I miscarried at the end of the summer. My baby girl should have been due 2/17/2020 and i can’t put into words how heartbreaking it’s been. I watched your birth story and saw how emotional it all must have been for you. I think you’re such a trooper and again, it’s so heartwarming to see you and baby so happy. ❤️

My daughter Holly has the same fingers fused together on the same hand as Connor! Except she has no index finger that formed so she has three fingers (technically four if you do it by how many bones she has).
