I like the lens and the features it provides compared to Sigma 16mm 1.4 that I already use. But I'm not sure if I would go for double the price lens over Sigma for almost identical image quality. Either Sigma is underpriced, or sony is underestimating it's competition for what they can offer.

Agreed. The Sigma 16 1.4 does all of this really well but the Sony does trump it in terms of being half the weight of the Sigma.

Yeah, the weight and the aperture ring are big upgrades.

Sigma will mess up focus wide open if not set to focus mode: Auto. But the price, sharpness across the aperture range and beautiful color / overall image feel is what makes me stick to Sigmas. And also stick it to Sony for their lens to price to image quality ratio. The 0:45 seashore shots look miscolored, and 2:14 seems like it's making the infamous yellow Sony tint worse. Guess we should be ecstatic to even get anything new, but the choices seem once again aimed at content creators. Ugh.

I have both trust this lens is easier to use and the skin tones is just beautiful the autofocus is better same speed but catches the subject smarter another thing that beats it is when you shoot directly at light the sigma has some lines showing this one does not

Next we need a 24mm 1.4 for APS-C (35mm equivalent) it is the most useful focal lenght i would buy one in a heart beat. Than Sony should make a 50mm 1.4 equivalent (35mm 1.4) to have a complete trio of prime lens with the same design and all f1.4

Please do provide the latest software update for Sony A7iii model. If it is possible to get hardware support. Not everyone including myself also will be able get Sony A7iv after having Sony A7iii with them.

The 15mm 1.4 looks brighter and sharper than the sigma 16mm 1.4 to me. It is sharper than the Sony 16-55 2.8 it is also lighter plus it has the focus hold button.

Very nice lense it is probably a little bit better then sigma 16mm f1.4 especialy for video - but the A6600 is a very old camera by now. I hope sony is going to release a 6700 soon that offers 4K 60fps HDR10 / HLG and H265 codec. Otherwise I will be force I am force to go full frame or to panasonic or fuji.

I hope that Sony will make some GM "CQ" Lenses which are of highest possible image quality without flaws that have to be corrected in software, fx a 15mm 1.8 or 2.0 for APSC that are both compact and with very high image quality and a 24mm 1.8 or 2.0 for full frame. I also hope for professional Cameras in APSC with high resolution EVF´s.

whats the point of showing off a new lens with a body (a6600) you announced are no longer making and havent updated yet. even after 2 years. I have been searching around for a6600 forever, but no use.

They have to use it with this lens because the lens has no stabilization. They are selling the lens to those that already own the 6600 body. 🙄

What is the purpose of the new lenses when you apsc camera line sucks. Rolling shutter, bad color science. The a6600 old technology, you guys crippled the zve 10, You need to step up your game. Canon R7, and fujifilm xhs2 is out of your league at the moment. The sony a7iv crippled and a hotbox. You guys used to be number one not anymore wake up. Sony need a new apsc camera with a great Evf, Stabilzation, Autofocus 4k 60 no crop, 1080, 240 frames no crop with audio and autofocus. Flip screen, 32 Mgp , Fix the rolling shutter is 2022 and then you new lenses will be selling like hotcakes.
