We have the same boat, which was also a gift. Did you find out any more history? Are you by chance in the Muskoka region of Ontario? If so I might have some information to share.

That’s fantastic. I have not found anything else out so would love to learn more. We use the boat in the Parry Sound area although live near Toronto.

I have the same boat and have been stripping it down for the last week.

John - how did your strip down go? Any advice for how to go about refinishing?

@@motorv8N Used heat gun for stripping old finishes off then sanding. I have finished varnishing the bottom, 10 coats of varnish. Deck needs a couple more coats then starting on inside. Had to replace a section of keel and bow. Making new floor boards as well. Taking a lot more time than expected but have not given up yet. I will send some pictures.
