I wonder which tribe, because Redbone members are both Yaqui and Shashone tribes.

@@MiddleAgedBob I would guess Shoshone. If you research their culture is a very traditional tribe. They keep close to their cultural roots. They are impressive. I could be wrong, but if guess Shoshone based on what I've read.

This sure brings back a lot of memories. I was 14 soon to be 15 when this song came out. It instantly became a favorite of mine. My dear Mom said I drove her crazy playing this 45. If you left the arm up on the record player the needle would come up and reset from the beginning so it would play the same song continuously. LOL!! I needed this today!! Had a big crush on these guys. I have Cherokee heritage so I was always proud they were native Americans. ❤️

Love this song from 1974! Love Redbone, too. The music mafia today, only allows crappy music to become popular so that they can keep us depressed. Real musicians and real music was uplifting back in the day. It's still the best! Thanks, BP!

Redbone had so many good songs. "Witch Queen of New Orleans" and "Wevoka" come to mind. They were SO good. It was in the first "Guardians of the Galaxy" at the very beginning when Starlord was dancing. (I think it's "Wavoka" rather than "Wevoka".)

These guys are California boys. Two of the are brothers, Lolly & Pat (Vasquez) Vegas. The other member doing the tribal dance is Tony “T-Bone” Bellamy. They then moved to Las Vegas, got a contract and changed their name to the Vegas Brothers. All are mixed heritage.

Growing up in the 70s and 80s, I remember this song playing on the radio but. I never know who sang it and never heard of the group itself. While I liked the song, it never became a song I would go looking for like some of the music from Queen, Devo, Beach Boys, Charlie Daniels, Robert Plant, Sting or the Police, or Genesis. Sometimes I would here a song but never knew who sang it. If it had lyrics, I could usually find the song. If it was an instrumental, I could never find the song because I never heard what the title would be so finding songs like Tequila or Green Onion was pretty difficult unless I stumbled upon them. Today, its easy to find the names of these music using an iPhone and Shazam to listen to the music and tell you what the name of the song is and who its by.

To have any success they didn't have recordings or tech to mask any flaws during live performances and with no social media live performances were their ONLY way to gain popularity. I guess what an old lady would say to the next generation is believe in yourself more than the tech.
