Most Universal fans do not realize how lucky we are to have these really indepth promotional videos. @@mattwo7 The main problem with Galaxy’s Edge is that it is not pictured in any of the films like Universal’s Harry Potter. They spent a lot of money on something that many don’t care about. @RetroGirl19677 ай бұрын
@@Dark_Kommissar Absolutely 10000% yes. CarsLand (and the existing Harry Potter lands in Universal) work because it puts you in the world of the film. If you have seen the movie (or in the case of Harry Potter read the books), you know instantly where you are and it feels like you are really in the story. With Galaxy's Edge, it's Star Wars because Disney tells me it's Star Wars. Disney has been trying to make Batuu happen, but it isn't that iconic shock of recognition. It's not something you can reverse engineer overnight.

Agree, Universal's lands look very representative of the IP they are based on. Meanwhile, as a 40+ year Star Wars fan, I walk through Galaxy's Edge and while I can appreciate the "detail" and effort and expense, it causes absolutely no emotional reaction (except for Millennium Falcon, and a few other smaller props/elements). The entire land could be from a newer fantasy sci-fi movie I'm unaware of. I appreciate the bold ambition but it's a case-study of what not to do. Same thing for Tiana's Bayou Adventure. I love the movie. The new attraction is a whole different thing, largely unrelated to the movie. Avenger's Campus...again, what is this? A community college? It's a boring, uninspiring environment and doesn't represent any place in any movie. Cars Land nailed it. It had me dazzled when I first went. A case-study of what to do. It's the most Universal of Disney's recent projects (I now think we need to measure Disney's work against Universal as the standard bearer of great theme park work).

With WDW, everything is an upsell now and nothing is included anymore. Especially for Annual passholders. UOAP has so many more benefits included for a lower price. Whereas the only benefit WDWAP offers are discounts to buy more stuff/services. So I Traded in my WDWAP for an UOAP 2 years ago and LOVE IT. Now we go to WDW only 1 week a year but visit UO at least 2-3 weekends a month all year.

There really is no reason to compare this to what Disney is doing because Disney is doing amazing work as well, even if they are not adding major expansions to their theme parks. Their amazing work is reflected more in their promotion of diversity and inclusion. For example, they are providing representation to marginalized voices, such as queer and non-binary people and others within the LGBTQIAS2+ community. They are bringing black and brown voices to center stage with incredible attractions like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Moana’s water fountain in the EPCOT. They are elevating women to higher decision-making positions all throughout the company. Disney doesn’t need to expand their theme parks anyway because they are fine just the way they are. They are four theme parks, and that’s honestly enough for most theme park guests. What is needed now is to showcase diverse voices and inclusive stories. Disney does that better than Universal in every possible way.
@OfficialSapphirePhoenix10 ай бұрын
@@SnapChit What in the ChatGPT is this response? You sound like a Disney bot! 🤪 There's PLENTY of reasons to compare the two, because they're direct competitors with each other and tourists WILL be comparing the two no matter what when they're deciding where to go for vacation. The theme parks are literally next to each other, so how could you not??? Also, Disney's extreme focus on woke diversity and inclusion has DAMAGED the brand. Their theme parks have low attendance, box office flop after flop, stock crashing, public opinion of the brand is sour, and they're losing their core audience to woke messaging. A glorified water fountain queue and reskinning a subpar IP over a superior IP is NOT gonna convince people Disney is doing better than Universal right now. They can't expand the parks because they don't have enough capital. That's why they're giving cheap rethemes and "experiences" instead of new rides, new lands, or theme parks.

I was in the exact same boat. I wasn't too sure about the use of this IP, but I can't wait to explore the Isle of Berk

I hope the attractions are accessible given that it was one of the first kid movies where two main protagonist had a disability. It feels important so everyone who loved HTTYD so much can experience it fully too.

From the first time i watched these movies, i remember thinking "they could make such an amazing ride out of this!" Knowing that it's not just a ride, but an entire land is so exciting, to me!

They give me that feeling Disney did in the early 90’s. I’m so happy for Universal kicking the crap out of new Disney.

I’d never heard about this movie before learning about Epic Universe, but I watched this video three times with tears in my eyes. This park is going to be amazing. What a time to be a Universal fan!! ❤

This is AWESOME!!! Because I’ve been burned so many times by Disney, I’m still hesitant with getting too excited because of how much they’re promising and how incredible their vision is. I truly hope they’re being honest. Some honesty in this industry would be a breath of fresh air!! ❤

As someone who fell in love with and grew up with this series as a kid, this looks amazing! I love the little details like the statues as you enter Berk, which is in every opening in the movies, Hiccup's house, and the Great Hall (which is what it is called in the movies, not Mead Hall, but I understand if they had copyright issues with the Great Hall in Hogwarts). I hope we get to see Gobber's workshop where Hiccup made Toothless's tail and I can't wait to find more easter eggs from the movies. The only suggestion for future additions is to add a flight simulator type ride (like Disney's flight of passage but better because it's Universal) which should definitely be tabled as an expansion. You could show places you didn't have space for in the actual set, like the grotto where Hiccup did the iconic hand touch with Toothless. You could create a hanger front set, and since the hangers use the cave networks under Berk, can use that as a que. I was about 6-7 when the first movie came out, and growing up I always had dreams of flying on a dragon and going on an adventure with the six. The movies have been around for about 15 years, so there is a good enough fan base in young adults who feel nostalgia with this place. Dark Universe has monster's unchained, Super Nintendo has an augmented reality mario kart, and Ministry of Magic probably has a big attraction in that huge building on the map. It would blow it out of the water if HTTYD got to have something too, although I understand that they want to move away from screens and go more set based, and the coaster is a great way to show off their hard work, but actually being ON A DRAGON? It seems like something to think about.
