I’d rather have a $39 plug-in do all of that for me so that I can move on to other aspects of the record. This is not a eureka moment. There are a few ways to emulate almost any plugin available. Plugins like this untie your hands from much of the technical aspect of music making (which is also a lot of fun when time avails) so that we artists and producers can really stay in a creative flow which is several X more fun. I’ll give it a shot. Hopefully I’ll love it but if the converse holds true $39 is not a terrible hit to the pocket for the sake of improving your craft by increasing your level of efficiency and creativity as well.

save your money: a) put a reverb in a bus b)put a dynamic eq after the reverb, external sidechain routed to that from the orginal source track c) dip some of the characteristic frequencies. If you don't have dynamic eq, use either multiband compressor or compressor contolled with similar external sidechain, almost similar result.

If you have the latest Neutron, there is an unmasking feature in there that can give you this same effect. Then of course, route it, and add reverb. I do admit, it is convenient to have the unmasking feature already set there in Aurora Plugin and just have reverb. So this isn’t too bad.

Yes, definitely depends on the final result you're going for. Reverb on anything gives it a nice air, but sometimes, especially for a really good vocalist, you or they might prefer the full character of their voice to cut through, letting the reverb only trail, not cloud. This plugin is perfect for both, as are the alternative methods others have posted.

If I get to the point I know all the DAW tools, plugins like this can help speed things up a bit I would think. The photography industry is same and plugins are not much different photoshop as example has all the tools built in already to create every effect and automations so the 3rd party plugins are basically interfaces for PS, vst plugins run in a daws wrapper and use it's functionality along with their algorithms. Photography is a bit different though and you can make a Cowpie into art, the Cowpie equivalent in music would just sound a little better after processing but would still be plop of s to listen to. Great plugins are certainly offered by Izotope and this I am sure is no different but buying plugins thinking they will do magic to your tracks is a mistake that should be avoided right from the start.

If you want to avoid the reverb masking your sound, don’t you just add pre-delay to a normal reverb?
@AutPen382 ай бұрын
The pre-delay trick (popularised in the 1980s) is good for ducking out of the way of initial transients, but this is more frequency specific. It's basically a quick way of doing (internal) sidechaining instead of faffing about with dynamic EQ or Soothe2. It should be fine if the reverb algorithms are good, but if you prefer the sound of other reverb VSTs, you should learn how to do sidechain EQ ducking with them.
