I've always been sceptical of people saying for years that eventually technology and clothing will physically merge (distinct from wearable tech like smartwatches), it's been been touted for at least a couple of decades in fashion textbooks as inevitable, but I've never bought into the idea. Usually it just wouldn't provide any additional functionality and incurs questions over how you wash and look after the garment (which this may still do). However this may have changed my mind; genuinely useful and wearable, not trying to introduce any ridiculous space age concepts or styles, no stupid altering colours or lights. Good job, even a luddite such as myself would buy and wear this!

Авситидийский Артем it pairs with your smartphone and acts as an external controller. Basically it allows you to gesture on the sleeve so you don’t have to pull out your actual phone. Like you said, a smart watch but without the screen. I am viewing it as a concept of the technology. If it adopts they (Google) can start putting this in anything fabric (think couches or dashboards in cars)

The user insight is good (people, in some situation, don't want or even can't touch their phone to interact with it) but the story and the user experience is weak. A connected bluetooth earbud can do the same and the fact that your sleeve is connected doesn't add so much to the experience. But again, great product, great R&D but the use case is not so great.

I feel like this concept is awesome, just the execution isn't quite there yet. It's not as seamless as it could be. I like the idea, but it should have started as something more basic first, to lay some groundwork. Once you see what's possible with fabric and tech, unlock it for ALL clothing manufacturers and it's off to the races. Funny enough, this is actually a brilliant idea. Get people used to it first. Jacquard should have taken over as the overall wearables division at Google, and then expand the concept further.
