How do you wash these denims? Mine doesn't last long they tear by washing
@UnlimitedEmeralds3 жыл бұрын
@@PrashantBaldiya your denim jackets tear in the wash??? I’ve never heard of that happening but I suggest to not wash your jackets ever, especially if it has a lining. If you really have to wash it then hand wash and air dry. High quality denim should not be put through the washer or dryer.

Just so you're aware, the reason that a lot of Type-III jackets have extra-long sleeves is because it was originally designed with motorcycle riders in mind (a counter-culture which was very popular in the 1950's-70's) The added length was intended keep your wrists covered as your arms stretched forward while riding your motorcycle.

Back in the 1980s, everyone wore denim jackets. Many of us had patches of our favorite rock bands sewed on. You complained about many of the jackets with long sleeves. There’s a reason for that. You don’t wear the sleeves normally buttoned like that. You roll it up once. That was the way we wore our denim jackets back then.

Like I mentioned before the Lee Storm Rider and Rider jacket are iconic… From the late 1940s, 1948 exactly… the slanted pocket design and zigzag stitching make this jacket really stylish, even though it was just meant to be workwear… If you’re interested in the vintage jackets from the 60s and 70s the cut and fit are completely different… But they look great… So measurements are really important… I do like the modern version better especially the one in selvedge denim.. but unfortunately it’s $300… Sometimes you can find one online for roughly half price… Which is still really too expensive but it’s a great denim jacket and something you will keep for the rest of your life and it is an absolute wardrobe staple, a denim jacket is a must have for any stylish guy… And girls for that matter. not too many clothes, look better with age, but denim trucker jackets, and waxed cotton jackets always look better with age.

Τοtally shocked me the cheap prices in US. Here in Europe are at least 100% higher. My vote for Lee, although I am not sure that are the same quality overseas ,because they have different labels and cuts, and in Europe market as super premium brand
@MensFashionFiles3 жыл бұрын
Wow! I didn't know that Lee is considered luxury in Europe. In the US, you can buy Lee clothing at a big discount. I would expect Lee to be better material and fit if its so much more expensive over there.
@Petros4paok3 жыл бұрын
@@MensFashionFiles definitely luxury. The standard price is 90 euros( over 100 $) , but I believe they are not the same product as marketed with different labels ( e.g. Lee Daren,Lee Malone , Lee Brooklyn....) . Levis has the same labels with the US, and I Believe is the same, except the price. A 501 starts from 100 Euro. Although the quality is down. I have a new Wrangler cowboy cut denim jacket (the 14oz 100% cotton not the flex fabric) and I think when it comes to wearing a denim jacket for physical labor and work like they were originally made for, then the Wrangler denim jacket is the best there is imo. Lots of the cowboys and ranchers here in Western Colorado still wear Wrangler's heavier duty line of denim clothing. I like Levi's and have a vintage Levi jacket from 1968 which to this day is still in great shape but they're more of a dress/casual wear denim and I won't use them for work.

Your video is good but your preference for each jacket is your own. I tend to like my sleeves longer as I don't want them riding up my arm. Although some jackets may be denim doesn't mean they actually are. One issue you seem to not know about is the sizing and it's brand. Some brands run larger whilst others run small. Case in point, Wrangler is one brand which runs small. Personally, I like Gap denim jackets.. They soften as they age. Target sells a good denim jacket. What you didn't do is prewashed them before you wore them. It would be interesting to see the shrinkage of each jacket....
@MensFashionFiles Жыл бұрын
Good recommendations. I wasnt able to wear these jackets enough when I made this video. Raw denim tends to soften but not sure about non raw denim. all these jackets are pre washed and raw

The original Levi jacket is definitely the best, More stylish & better quality denim... I remember back in the day the trend was to splash bleach over the jacket or jeans to take out bits of colour ... Also to unpick the label on the inside of the jacket and have it sewn onto the front .....

I still own, and often wear, 2 denim jackets made by Lee from the late 80's/early 90s (The Lee Rider, and the Storm Rider that was quilted on the inside). While even back then Levi's were more popular for the most part, IMHO the Lee Riders were better made and frankly there was a good reason they were donned by Hollywood icons like Steve Mcqueen, Paul Newman, Marilyn Monroe, Eastwood, Redford, etc...it was THE Denim Jacket of my teen years.. Recently, I purchased a new version of the Lee Rider online, and it is just terrible compared to what they once were. The body of the jacket is longer, but isn't necessarily too bad. But those sleeves!!! As you noted in your review, they are so tight and long...it's just very uncomfortable. I'll probably make a vest out of it. Sadly, if you want to experience what a real Lee Rider is/was like you're going to have to go vintage or perhaps research high quality ($$$) reproductions in Japan. It's sad to see what Lee has now become. But, in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, it was argueably THE best denim jacket. In any event, great review and appreciate all the work you put into it.

I'm from a hick town so I am aware of the quality Wrangler is. I saw classmates wear their jeans welding, doing cabinetry, landscaping, and animal science. I was in animal science and fed pigs and gave shots to lambs. Those pants take a beating. I never did see them wear a Wrangler denim jacket. It was mostly Carhartt or Walls jackets with Ben Davis t shirts. There might be a stigma but people need to be aware that these brands work ... also the stigma is US based.

Agreed, growing up, I've always see Wrangler commercials with cowboys in it. Because of that, I've never wanted to buy anything from them. But after hearing a lot of great things about their quality, I had to give them a try and I'm glad I did. I've also heard a lot of great things about American Eagle as well, I gotta give them a try one day. Thanks for the suggestion 👌

What unfair stigma? I'm confused

The "stigma" is that Wrangler is more associated with cowboys and cattle workers. You'd think the denim brand that's trusted by working people would give it more credibility, but zoomers are stupid and ignorantly think "country folk = bad".
