Mamamoo is definitely one of the few groups who had to work for their fame and overcome ridiculous standards. All 4 of them were told they are short, not pretty even ugly. I cant even imagine being these 20 year olds at the time, being told they are short and ugly dont look like models and therefore will likely fail unless the become insanely good singers. Great they became insanely great vocalists but the hate was not necessary. I can even understand how anyone would think they are not pretty, Hwasa fat is just a moron talking she is beyond sexy, they all are, Solar is practically a living disney princess or angel. Hwasa took the most hate though today she is a trend setter, they all are. Not in these videos is the ridiculous amount of hard work they had to do. Busking in street performances, venues like mall parking lots, taking just about any small town festival often multiple performances in a day, they had to do their own choreo, pretty much do it all on their own for these performances to make them happen. Not that other groups dont work hard, there is a difference between a group with millions in financial backing to start up and promote vs a group that had to do it like mamamoo did. What is certain is the world is a better place because mamamoo exists.

Might have mentioned this... Mamamoo names - have you realised mamamoo’s members’ stage names meaning are Solar - Sun (Light) Moonbyul - Moon & Star (Shining in the Night) Wheein - Shining Person Hwasa - Bright it means mamamoo always shines and they give light to our life

The singer Hyloyn appeared in the parts about Hwasa. I think she's a singer you may like too. She's from a group called Sistar which is also worth listening to. They've been disbanded for a while but some of their songs are still in my current kpop playlists.

When the TV powers that be cast Wheein to appear on Secret Sister alongside SNSD's Hyoyeon, they were hoping for high energy bouncing beagleness...instead they got introvert Wheein, intimidated by the towering seniority of the dancing legend...Hyo did eventually get her more at ease, but would have needed more time than the TV filming schedule allowed for any silliness.

I agree KBS(Korean Beauty Standards) are insane and rediculous... but we are from the west, and it's their culture. Actually most asian cultures have issues with "tanned" skin, because historically it ment that the people who were tanned were of a lower class(working in the fields) and looked down on. Fair skin is praised in Japan/S Korea/China inparticular. So is being "thin". Those cultures are very judgemental and racist... no sense in getting mad about it.
