Hip is MMM's response to all the hate they've received over the years. The lyrics and music were co-written by Hwasa, who is the member most often targeted by haters, and two of their main creative partners, songwriter/producers Kim Dohoon and Park Woosang. Kim Dohoon is the co-CEO of their label RBW and he's the person responsible for assembling Mamamoo. Hip is a combo of a diss track mocking their haters as people who spit in their own faces with a message song that re-defines Hip to mean being yourself and doing your own thing rather than the usual slang meaning of cool or trendy. In the MV they play themselves as MMM (the 1st Universe) and each member also portrays three women who are unusual in one way or another (the 3 alternate universes) such as a boxer, an artist, the president, and a mom with a unique sense of housecleaning fashion. The point of course is that everyone deserves respect for their lifestyle, career and fashion choices rather than criticism for being out of the norm. You're correct about the visual distortions in the Starry Night MV, which was filmed in New Zealand. Imo their reality is only seen in the brief nighttime scenes in the city and the rest of the MV follows their dreams during a starry night when the lingering attraction for a former lover carries them off into poetic fantasies in beautiful imaginary locations. The MV is just as impressionistic as the painting by Van Gogh. Aya is one of MMM's most complex MVs and I'll refrain from giving you my TED talk on it. Obvious questions include why they used an Arabian Nights concept, why the members also play characters that have nothing to do with the Arabian Nights (such as Hwasa's dominatrix dentist lol), why Solar has a unibrow, and what's the significance of Solar stabbing a bowl with a dagger at the end? And what does all that have to do with a breakup song? Dingga was a pre-release single from the Travel album that featured Aya as the main single. Dingga is a slang word meaning fool around and have fun. The song was Mamamoo's way of trying to cheer us up when we were socially distant during the pandemic. In the song and MV they fantasize about various ways they'd like to Dingga with friends of all ages like playing children's games, roller skating, and getting together to party and drink like a fish.

I remember hearing that there was soooo much buzz around Hwasa even before she debuted. Like, her charisma was off the charts even as a trainee. 😊 Next marathon for them I recommend including; Egotistic Wind Flower Gogobebe Mr Ambiguous (debut mv) BUT if you want a Hwasa solo marathon, check these out; Maria LMM (aka Losing My Mind) Twit Don't (this is a collab with the rapper Loco... imo, the sexiest she's ever looked 😍 there's a story about how this collab came about that others will go over I'm sure, but just make sure to notice how the man cannot look her in the eye if she's looking at him, at least not until she forces him to... he was so real for that! 😂)

Great songs though all of their songs are great. My favorite of these is AYA. There is a great live performance the AYA/Dingga aggrabah version which is worth watching just so you can see how insane their concerts can get for production. Starry Night was filmed in new zealand along with Star Wind Flower Sun and a couple other songs. Between their albums, Solo albums, OSTs, covers and collabs with MVs and live videos, you have about 400 more videos to go in your marathon.
