I have had this Z28 since 1982 and it is a part of my life. It took me 15 years to get it to this not perfect state and I love it. These Muscle cars are rare now and need to be appreciated.

Good video. I have a 71 Z28 RS the same cranberry red. I have suspected that it was pieced together. Your comment about the dash insert being an one year 73 part and the grill bracing may have answered some of my questions. Seeing that firewall hung gas pedal was surprising, 70 and 71 Z28 only had floor pivot pedals. Thanks.

I bought a 73 split bumper listed as an LT even on the vin number but Mine has the round signals like yours so I was just curious how you can tell the difference between the models so I can make sure what I have. it's in very good shape now but at one time it was a drag car ( has the 454 big block instead of the lt 350) and a 400 tranny. It also has the chrome trim and pretty much is identical to yours I only ask because I'd like to get it as close to original as possible not including the motor. There are no z28 or rs decals but they could have been removed when it was a drag car.

As I wrote in another comment Lt package over rode the z28 so no z28 badges on type LT also the trim tag on the inner fender will give you even more information including interior and exterior original colors

Also the Woodgrain Bezel starting in 1973 the Wiper switch had the wording on the switch, instead of the woodgrain bezel. It could be it was a fake that he bought in 1982 and was unaware of it being a fake.

There is a plate affixed to the engine compartment, drivers side above the brake master cylinder, that shows if the Camaro was a Z-28, RS, SS, or standard, along with the exterior and interior color schemes encoded. This cannot be (easily) faked.
@roberthill3257

I agree on car being a fake. Wrong switch for hidden wipers. Should say 147 on bracket. Car is also missing center rubber hood support part on firewall found on the RS. Wrong bolts on hood latch noted.

1970-73 Camaro Z-28 (not zed) had gas pedal bolted to the floor, his does not. Also it does not have the rear bumper guards that all Z-28 had. But I am not sure if they had them in 1973 because of the reinforced bumpers.

I had a 73' z28 I bought back in 1980 for $300 and drove for a few years. Mine was stone-stock when I got it. Ditching the Quadrajet was a mistake as it flows more cfm than the Holley 650 double-pumper, gives better low-end torque and much better mileage. Common mistake people make. I was making minimum wage back then, $3.35 an hour and I used my entire paycheck in gasoline in a weekend back then when I tried the 650 holley and a Torker open-plenum intake.

Car is not a true RS. Too many parts incorrect. Wipers can be added after. Car is missing longer radiator support bars only found on 1973 RS cars. Car is even missing extra bolt holes on radiator support where longer bars would have been attached along with the nut rivets on inside fender. Most cloned 1973 RS cars people miss the 28 inch bars.
