The best town cars ever made, this was a true lincoln. I had an 85, the best and most dependable car I ever had. It still ran with 263000 miles. Ohio roads killed the frame. Today's lincolns are just the lincoln logo and trim tacked on another Ford car or suv.

My Dad had a 1985 Cadillac Deville and treated it in for a 1988 Lincoln Town Car. He loved it so did I

Yo, yo, yo, Aharon. Welcome back. I could immediately tell the lifted ride height from the suspension upgrades. Very nice. This is motivating me to do an updated walk around on my 2004 Vic. I recently lifted the rear 1.5" inches over the factory ride height with those F-150 shocks & MOOG cargo coil springs. I got new headlamps assemblies, and side markers. It's looking really "less shabby" lol -Chuck

The best town car I ever owned was my 1984 signature series, loaded for the time period if I could have any of my past cars that would be the one I’d love to have again.

Love it! Chipped clear coat adds character, but fixing it would make the car a showroom material.

Needs a set of white wall tires. I miss my town cars. I've had several and they were the best cars I've ever owned

They're tough to get in 16". If conti still makes 'em, they'll be my next set. :)

Thanks for sharing your videos with us. I own a 1989 Lincoln town car, and have considered changing the rear tail light area for a better look too. I have the tail light area from a 1987, and just waiting for time to change it to the 1989. Please keep videos coming. Thanks

Looks like a nice Town Car. I like the HPP wheels, definitely fit the look pretty well. The high ride height is nice too, makes it easier to get over stuff. Definitely agree on the seats too, the 80s full-size Ford seats I've sat in have been pretty underwhelming. Its hard to tell in the video, but is the car black, or a dark blue?

Black. :) good eye. the clear coat that's still there reflects the sky which was blue that day.

@@iliketowncars Has it been repainted before? I didn't know that these Town Cars had clearcoat in 88. I think the full-size Fords and Mercuries didn't get clearcoat until the early 1990s, I assumed it was the same for the Lincolns.

I think 1977's Lincoln Versailles was the first American car with clear coat.

The wheels look to small here, I may be wrong though. I remember not being able to see light around the tires in the wheel wells.

the car is sitting high on the replacement springs. it's a fault of the aftermarket one-size-fits-all solution for the Panther platform. 😢 but better than the collapsed originals.

Hopefully you can answer a question,was the 91 town car seats a direct bolt in or did you have to modify to mount them in? Always had a love for these cars and might have a chance to get one but leather is bad ,didn’t think of swapping from panther town car was possible
@iliketowncars
@iliketowncars 9 ай бұрын
so i reused the 91 seat frames, the 1st gen frames are different than those used in the later gens. later gens frames have the outboard rear corner elevated and the hole is in a different place. i only bothered doing this because i wanted to upgrade my manual passenger seat to power, so i used the frames out of the 91. i had to drill a hole in the correct place and replace the stud with a long bolt with a 2" or so spacer, i dont remember exactly. what i could've done apparently was just transfer the 91 seats onto the 1st gen frames, if i didn't mind keeping the passenger seat on manual tracks.

Also did you hook up the power to the 91 seats and if so how do you operate them? Did you operate them by the stock door panel switches?
@iliketowncars
@iliketowncars 8 ай бұрын
the 6 way motors hook up to the same 6 pin harness in the floor. Theres an additional harness for under seat courtesy lamps. I ran a new harness for power recline and power lumbar. I attempted to incorporate the memory seat module but i think my module is defunct from getting dragged through the junkyard (these seats were heavy)

So your stock door switches controlled the 91 seats and seat back recline or did you have to incorporate a new set of switches,you really should do a video on this,I definitely think a lot of us would love to know how you did it,thank you for responding
