Oh my goodness this video couldn't have come at a better time. I'm about to adopt a cage mate for my beloved cockatiel Wesley, and I was trying to find resources to help me with introducing them! Thank you sooooooo much!!! Your content is AMAZING!! ❤❤❤

I am so glad you made this video. There are so many other reputable looking bird KZbin channels that don’t do half of these steps, and just put the birds in the same space which I think is very risky. Your approach is so much more effective and prevents fighting as much as possible.

I'd love to get a whole flock but Sophie the teeny tiny parrotlet is more than enough bird for me. Its hard enough having an animal that's smarter than me, I'm not sure how I'd manage being outnumbered by them. Thanks for the tutorials, I can just enjoy your flock ❤

*Trigger Warning: Death* Hi Flock Talk, Sadly we lost our Blue Boy last month. It was a freak accident. He fell into a paper towel roll without us noticing and suffocated. We have been grieving and are currently looking for a friend for Mango. This video couldn't have come at a better time. Thank you for posting your journey to help us through ours. ♥️

Wonderful video! I especially enjoyed all the footage of Newt & Toto being their birdy selves. I'm not able to have a bird at this time in my life, so getting to watch healthy, happy birds interacting with each other and their humans is very satisfying. I'm so impressed with how gorgeous their feathers are - they just gleam so vibrantly! Your bird care is truly excellent, and a wonderful example. Whether or not I am ever able to have a bird in my life, I love to be able to learn how to train and care for one. Thank you so much for your videos and for your terrific teaching!

This is such an amazing and very thorough video! Thank you so much! I am thinking of adopting another parrot because so many need homes and although they will obviously have their own cage I want my current parrot to be comfortable every step of the way. Now I feel confident I can rescue another parrot and do it the right way. Your channel really makes a big impact for parrots everywhere. Thank you again!

Quakers are definitely curious/explorers. I've started putting light toys on the perch they prefer and they throw them off.😅 Bambi and Logan are a bit too heavy to fly well. They are doing better these 6 months into their new home.

Can you do a video on treat aggression? My green cheek gets super excited when I reward him and it quickly turns into biting. I've tried only giving him the seed after he stops doing his little angry dances but he just keeps going.

I already have a GCC (5 months, male) and plan on adding another GCC (male) to my flock. I think my current one is quite attched and worry a little bit about jealousy. Have you had to deal with a jealous bird and what did you do about it?

I’m worried with the size difference. I have a 400g mini macaw at home(aggressive due to fear) I just got a GCC and will be coming home with him in the next day or two.

Just be careful. Especially when you have different sized birds or breeds. Don't put them together without supervision. Keep space in between the cages.

Hi I have a question….how do you train a lovebird that doesn’t like any treats I give him?
@FlockTalk Жыл бұрын
Every bird is food motivated- if they weren’t they wouldn’t forage for the food needed to survive! A bird refusing treats can happen for a number of reasons: stress, fear, doesn’t like the reward, conflicting motivators, reward delivery, and many others. I would try a variety of different high value treats and experiment with reward delivery first- open hand, between fingers, a bowl, placing the treat and leaving. Often time birds refuse a treat because a large scary hand is being shoved in their space- try holding it away from them or the place+leave method to allow them to approach it. Otherwise I’d look at overall stress, the environment, what the training setup is like to see if other factors may be affecting their desire to take a reward.

your wife doing the angry dance with newt lol how long did this whole process took? and would it work in a house where you can hear everything? 🥴
@FlockTalk Жыл бұрын
After the month of quarantine I’d say about a month of extensively needing supervision and now we’re just fine tuning smaller things/ way less human intervention needed And yeah there’s always ways to make it work!

@Flock-Talk thank you! I know it can vary, but it's nice to have a time frame to avoid frustration.

@@FlockTalkThe month of supervision during new bird introductions is eye opening. I (against much advice saying otherwise) adopted a second parrotlet to give my existing girl some company of her own species. Here's the kicker. When I went for visitation, I fell in love with the new bird only to find out she is blind. As a parrotlet, my first birds natural first move is confrontation. My blind second bird is only desirous of contact. Early interactions are nerve wracking. Arghhhh! Time to slow down..... Thanks.
