We tow a 21 ft long, semi off road caravan with a 2020 76 Series V8 and I love towing with it. I tow in fourth gear and coast in fifth. I love touring with a swag in it, getting off the bitumen or just driving to work. Luxury and getting to our destination at speed limits was not a priority for us. We’re pretty relaxed when we travel. My wife had a few words to say about the ride and noise initially, but she’s fine with it now. We both love going away in it. These trucks really grow on you. They’re ugly, but beautiful at the same time:) They are very tough and reliable. Pure functionality. After parking your van, you can truly explore. These are very capable off road. If others think there are better options, let them buy those vehicles. We all buy what suits us the most. No vehicle is perfect for all our needs. I can’t imagine selling mine until I can no longer drive, and at 64 years old, I hope it’s not any time soon:) You made a great choice👍Congratulations with your purchase. These may cost a little more to buy and accessorise but they sure keep their value and last a lot longer than most other 4x4’s.

Nice rig mate congratulations! The colour combo with the rims look really nice. I’ve got a 79. Your rear rims don’t look offset? Have you got spacers in or the rear diff correction done?

Thanks mate. Have learned quickly that you either love them or hate them. Glad you love it. Will start a bit of minor work if I ever get some money, but if not, does the job already. Thanks for watching.

Hope you got it tuned and some decent suspension, they need it, if you went from a 200 into that crap you are not quite right Your wife will hate it with a passion ,silly decisions
@plainandsimpletravels4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and your feedback. No not tuning or giving toyota any excuses to void warranty as they did with the 200. Have you read the specifications on the upgraded suspension ? I think it only needs airbag helpers but even standard handled the 3.5 tonne van and ball weight with ease. No it's not a 200 but I love the driving experience again. Being in control. Thanks again for your feedback.

a big step backwards from a 200 imho but hey its your choice

@@plainandsimpletravels no I am not.I am interested in 76 myself but I am struggling with the fact that they are so basic . They are over 90k in NZ . You enjoy it its your car not mine

Hahaha, yep but much more fun to drive. Will explain my reasoning in a future video.

Rough as guts, and the minimal suspension movement should indicate this quite clearly, Hope you dont have back problems as im 40 and cant drive them. too slow and tractor sounding. No thankyou. V8 petrol ok, but these things are for mine sites and farms.. I mean if your going to throw it around a paddock for 50 years ok, but for a cruising vehicle, no thankyou dan. Had one for years as a work vehicle, left the job and never looked back.

But to each their own, I mean it shouldnt give you much trouble hopefully, I didnt have to touch mine but id never give up my lexus v8 petrol cruiser or my V6 petrol Fj's Chalk vs cheese for me. Hope you enjoy it mate.

Now that is quite interesting. I did have back trouble in the 200 after a couple of hours but never in the previous 79 or now the 76 . Each to their own I guess.

@@plainandsimpletravels Don't stress mate and congratulations on the purchase. I'm 42 and picked up a facelift 79 manual 8 just before Christmas, drives beautifully, done a couple of decent trips in it no back pain what so ever even in the stock seats. Happy adventures.

Apart from obvious reasons like better payload GCM, why did you decide to replace a 200 with a 76 but avoid the 2.8 auto? I used to own a 79 and loved it for work purposes but for long drives and all day caravan towing? Incase you didnt get enough information from real world owners, you'll be surprised what you need to modify to get the 76 V8 to perform as well as the twin turbo 200.

All these whinging pricks in the comments. You don't have to explain your choice to buy the most reliable truck on the planet that holds its value better than pretty much anything. It's simple for a reason.
@plainandsimpletravels5 ай бұрын
Seriously ? Have a look at my previous video on my 200 and calculate how much I spent on it trying to get it to perform to factory specifications. I am a REAL WORLD user not a press commentator and was up for an $18k repair bill for a poorly designed dpf system. Obviously you do not tow a 3.5 t caravan otherwise you would be aware of the shortcomings of the toyota auto system. But thanks for watching and your input.

why on earth would you need a WDH , ridiculous, airbags is all youll ever need and 10000 times safer and less stress on hitch
@plainandsimpletravels5 ай бұрын
Easy answer to that one. I don't want to spend another $1000 on airbags yet as savings are depleted and I already have the wdh. Secondly, wdh is recommended by toyota and therefore don't void warranty. I have been using wdh for 8 years so no trouble for me to use. But most importantly to my set up, the airbags do nothing to remove the excess weight on the rear axle.

You need to measure from the top of the tyre to the wheel arch, not the road to the Wheel arch.
