standalone? is a pc with an intel i3 and a screen built in, what's special of it? if i connect a random midi controller to ableton i can do the same stuff, even better... the standalone version can't even read external plugins. lmao
@lonnieclark6192

@@ivan3584 I'm not saying it's necessarily worth the price but...the point is you can use this without being connected to a computer. It's not supposed to do everything you can do while connected to a computer. It's to give you the option to do things without it. Literally the entire point. Then you can take it back to the DAW and continue on if you see fit.

@@ivan3584 You clearly have no idea what this product is then. The point of the standalone is that you don't need to connect it to anything and it's has MPE built-in, which your "random midi controller" most certainly have not.

Ableton please add a stem rendering feature in Ableton 12! Like when you right click on audio and convert to harmony or groove, being able to select different stems from one file would be amazing. That mixed with the new long sample warp would be the ultimate update. Serato Studio currently has the best algoritm but I bet Abletons team could outdo them. Stems is as important to music production as sampling breaks was to hip hop. Its going to be a new era of sampling drums and if you could take drums from any track quikcly in one daw, it would change the game.

Nothing compares. Ableton has always been on top of the software game. And now they've made their claim as the undisputed champion of hardware devices. Anybody who thinks that you need a huge mixing board, tons of outboard gear, modular synths, a redundancy of VST plugins and Logic Pro to be a "true professional" is living in the past. Ableton's trinity of Note, Live Suite, and Push 3 offer the capability of a $500,000 studio at a fraction of the cost. The engineering at Ableton isn't just great- it is exceptional. I started as a guitar player and my musical hero was Hendrix. Never did I think that a MIDI controller would have the same sort of pitch-bending, expressive capabilities as a fretboard. And now I can directly record my guitar with this interface, on the go, wherever life may take me. This is a game changer, and the modularity makes it so that this device will only get better in time.

Can we connect a Workstation keyboard as the Roland Fantom with only the USB? Like on computer, that appears all the 16 channels of the keyboard as separated audio channels. In this way we still could plug a Guitar and Mike on the inputs... It would be nice.

Makes me curious, how do you think Push3 is not an improvement over Push2? Did you consider MPE (and all of Live's instruments that now support it as of 11.3, with the exception of Operator)? Even for playing drum kits, it's going to be a world of difference playing on it, and this absolutely takes Push to the next level as a hardware instrument and controller.
@seebo1
@seebo1 Жыл бұрын
@@morecowbell2611 you're absolutely right, that wasn't really phrased well by me. MPE is a major improvement, and also the added controls. My comment was within a few minutes of first seeing the device, and on a first glance I thought It would be basically a Push2 with standalone mode. Really looking forward to getting my hands on one of these and seeing how much it changed compared to a Push2. I really like to use it, but in the end I'm still spending 80% of my time using the mouse and keyboard. Let's see if this device will be able to get us away from this.

When you end up playing one you totally can and always have been- either on the push or in ableton. If you want it super big, even, just grab a plugin, but captured midi is displayed bottom right. That being said, most pro musicians think in scale degrees, and this is pretty much there for that whether you want to stay completelt diatonic or borrow a few notes.

@@thesoundmajors9858 Two versions: one is standalone and one needs to be connected to Live running on a computer. An upgrade kit to convert the latter version into the former will also be available later this year. - 2h30 battery life - No OLED screen - x86 CPU (for a nomad device, really?) - No support for VST - No support for arrangement view - The upgrade kit is more expensive than the standard version of the Push v3 🤷🏻‍♂ What a joke... Edit: Don't get me wrong, the built-in audio interface, multiple I/O, MPE support, and the layout redesign are all positive aspects. Even the price tag of the standard version doesn't surprise me at all. It is a well-manufactured product (I have the v2) targeted towards a niche market, so mass production to reduce costs is not possible. However, what bothers me is the so-called standalone version, which is extremely limited but twice as expensive. Additionally, keeping the LCD screen is a strange choice considering the power consumption of a portable device and the operating environment of this controller.

Okay, but what standalone DAW in a box does support VST? At least it supports Max for Live, which is a big win. I agree about battery life, OLED and x86, but this is the first generation of Push3 hardware/software. There will likely be better parts (CPU/battery) available in the future, as it seems to be one of the main features of Push3: upgradeability. Think how Push1 started, and how many software updates it and Push2 have received up till now. And better yet, with live now running on Linux on Push3 standalone, Ableton will have all the freedom they need to develop this platform further.
