Leaning more towards a RØDECaster Video Pro, everything it has now with the Streamer X features bumped up some 4k144 HDR pass-through and 4k60 record/stream. If it has to increase in size or have a add-on with a bank of 8+ faders to control the computer audio and what goes to the stream would help as well and possibly could replace a dedicated streaming PC.

@@seankyte Yeah but its pretty good how it has receivers built in and bluetooth for phone audio. I agree 2 xlr inputs is not enough, and also its got the two usb C inputs so you could put two extra USB mics through there, burt then no usb web cam, i think 4 usb inputs wouldve been better 2 for usb mic 2 usb/web camera, and in the blank space above the buttons a preview screen(s) or some extra buttons for audio like mute or ducker , maybe they are saving that for version 2 in 2026 ? But its a gogreat first version for them and maybe Blackmagic will have to bring more to the table next time to compete

While I can see why it's capped at 1080p, it would be an instant buy if it just had the capability of doing 4K. Hopefully on the next iteration, or perhaps a firmware update. Even if it comes with limitations. Aside from that, it's really impressive tech.

Rode, I love my Rode Caster Video! i originally said no b/c of no 4k. Cat Mulvihill changed my mind about what it could do. I'm a niche nail education channel. Recording had been a pain point not being able to bring in all my cameras while showcasing products without all the post editing. I work 45-70 hours a week as an Engineering Program Manager.I could record but didn't have the energy to spend another 6 hours editing an video. This has just reduced my recording and editing from ~10hrs per video down to~3-4. Thank you for this. It's the game changer I needed as I revamp the recording on my channel!!

I love this and I hope they bring out a SDI version of this, HDMI is great for small rooms but if you are in a larger room then SDI is the way to go but for Rode's first video switcher this is very impressive

I am currently using Atem mini extreme to live streaming to multiple destinations by combination of atem and obs for monastery. But this rode device is top notch and click most of my wishes. It looks simple and quick to use like that macro thing you mentioned, which is headache in atem . Here it looks flawless. Hats off to that. If it has 4K recording and 1080p streaming. Then I will definitely switch to it now. Plus if it has multiple streaming destinations then it’s my dream video switcher. I know rode is the company which delivers according to customer. PLEASE allow it to record BOTH HDMI outs. I film Depositions and I leave camera 1 on the PIP 50% of the time by itself and then I hit PIP and make camera 1 the small screen and 2 or 3 the large screen. I mix 2 and 3 in my 1 HDMI out. Just switching between these 2 because I film Laptop shared documents and an Elmo camera that are 2 totally separate sources and 2 separate HDMI cables. I need a recorded feed of me mixing it. as of now I have to use a Black Magic Video assist and this would completely eliminate that.

There are work arounds for the 4k. Record the raw files. Auto-detect scene switching/cuts in your editing software. Pull the different cameras to different tracks. Color code. Relink media on a 4k timeline. This will also give you full control over fixing your cuts if you don’t like them. Rode, welcome to my Ted Talk. If you send me one to keep, I’ll do a video on it. 😂

This is an amazing product and much needed for creators and podcasters. Its just a shame it has no 4K which is its biggest flaw at this price point. You wouldn't record with $4000 FX3s to only get 1080 output. Introduce the smart sound pads from the Rodecaster Pro and 4K recording and you have a product that will dominate the market. Love the integration of audio and video. It's a great product, but the price and the lack of 4k is a huge ask. A different product from atem mini pro ISO, but the latter can output a DaVinci Resolve project which can then be used to do edits. That's very interesting as I've seen usecases where the non4k captured video becomes a proxy for 4k source files stored on external drives. Great product Rode, and i will really am interested to see where this goes. I am in the market for a video switcher and I have an RCP 2 ...I really like the all-in-one solution, but I am hesitant to make any purchase right now.

The RØDECaster Video is capable of single platform streaming at a time, though you can connect USB1 into your computer using a program such as 'Restream' to distribute the stream to multiple platforms!

RØDECaster connectivity only applies to the RØDECaster Pro II and Duo, not the original. The RØDECaster Video will have 2 headphone inputs which the operator can use! Please note that if you are also to connect a RØDECaster to the switcher, you will also be able to gain access to those headphone outputs as well 😊

It’s definitely something I was interested in picking up it definitely is an amazing piece of tech was disappointed it’s not 4k but I was interested until I looked at the 1200$ price tag like it’s awesome don’t get me wrong But who is this for? It seems very much like a amazing piece of technology for a small production team. Usually somebody who not only is running the cameras but also has to be in the shots(perfect for my use case). Comes with so many amazing features but you sacrifice 4K. Not too bad. But I feel like the specs are too low to be professional, and the price tag is too high for smaller creators. Or maybe I’m just a cheap ass who knows🤷‍♀️

Hey Elton! 1. One stream at a time, but you can use a program such as Restream to hit multiple platforms! 2. This varies, depending on the storage capacity of your drive as well as the number of inputs you are simultaneously recording. 3. It has an ethernet port to connect the RØDECaster Video to a network. 4. WiFi and ethernet cable can be connected at the same time, but it will only use one signal at a time. You can see which connection method is being used within Central.

Agree. I have this same requirement where local audience only needs to see slides, but online audience gets a mix of cameras AND slides. My ATEM Mini Extreme ISO currently does this but is missing the audio capabilities of this new Rode product.

@@biclar Oh yeah. As I understand the ATEM mini series just has the one mix engine, so do you route individual inputs as needed to an aux output for the local video output? (with the main program going to the online stream) I sometimes do very simple AV support for local organisations who wish to do hybrid events - so local audience and online audience as well as local presenters and online presenters. I don't have a video switcher so I make it work on a pc with USB capture devices and OBS. It is messy though :/ At the moment the best device to satisfy multiple program requirement seems to be ATEM Constellation 2ME which as the name suggests has two mix engines. But it doesn't have ISO recording and doesn't have scenes. Also pretty expensive (esp when considering need for SDI conversion hardware) - too expensive for my circumstances.
