As a fan of the Blackmagic ATEM, I was initially a little sceptical, but I like this unit. The only thing I miss is the BM ATEM's ability not only to save the files from the live stream but also to generate project files that can be edited in DaVinci Resolve allowing you to tweak the live stream if necessary.

@vicadegboye684 the rollercoaster has the SW abstraction interface which is absolutely a nightmare for a live production. You need a physical interface, physical buttons during a live production. For your use case it depends on your intent and requirements. The only way is through Active Learning or hire someone who knows what is doing and can guide you through the process of the construction of the video production, the entire video set and the video production optimisation. It is a process and investment. There are many elements, photography, videography, cinematic Video, cinematic lighting, cinematic lenses, professional audio etc. Blackmagic is offering a real professional ecosystem. It also depends on your budget. There are many many elements and moving parts. For sure don't listen to the KZbinrs and influencers. Rollercoaster is the worst of the worst to do this, it's not a professional device.

It wasn't highlighted as much, which I think is crazy, but it also auto-switches cameras based on who is talking. And not just looping camera angles like macros on the atem mini or random selections like YoloLive. I'm not sure if it just takes a lot of processing power to do that in real time or not, but it really doesn't seem extremely complicated to have this as an out of the box feature for all video switchers. I had to hack it in OBS to do speaker-based live switching. I really wanted to like this for our podcast studio because just one button press for a non-tech user to sit and record their podcast is such a killer feature. But 1080p isn't crispy enough for podcast clips, only 2 xlr inputs means i need adapters for usb-c audio (which is ok, but not preferred,) and lack of physical controls just feels unintuitive to me. I wish they would've just slapped some HDMI ports on the back of the Rodecaster Pro II design.

@ThinkMediaTV2 ай бұрын
If you are planning on using the Apollo Twin Duo as your audio interface, then in either instance you would need to select the Apollo as your audio source and then your switcher of choice as your video source. If you really have a need for 8 camera inputs, then I would go for the ATEM Extreme. Most people don't... and if you need more like 4-6 camera inputs, then the RODECaster Video would be the way to go because it could also remove the necessity for the Apollo if you desired to have your workflow consolidated into 1 unit. The RODECaster Video is great for audio, and I bet you would find yourself using it quite a bit for both audio/video purposes.

Typically, this will only be available on devices running superspeed USB, such as the Elgato webcams, the high end logitechs, Razer KIYO, Obsbot tiny, etc. Sony cameras also support uncompressed UVC, plugging in the FX-3 or ZV-1 directly to USB 4/5 should prompt for ‘streaming mode’. I think a Yolobox Ultra is a better option with 4k input and just connect a Rodecaster with it and you will have a real high quality all. Monitor, switcher, streaming, audio and recording… of course the ticket price is higher but you have a much better option for 2024 standards !
@ThinkMediaTV2 ай бұрын
Also a good option for sure! But yes, would need some audio solutions!

It's unfortunate that they only included two microphone inputs in this system.

See I already bought a rodecaster pro 2 a few months ago and my next purchase for my pod would be the atem mini pro, then I’ll just connect the two n use the 600 i saved not buying the rodecaster video on a new camera for another angle. But if I didn’t have the rodecaster 2 I’d be all over this. Damn😩🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️

Yeah it is a bummer. If it was 4K they would CRUSH all of the competition. But for what it is, it is still really really good!

We are constantly told that 99% of video content is consumed on mobile rather than huge TV screens and for talking head studio filming on my Sony cameras like the FX6 and A7SIII 1080p looks pretty good so while I’m also disappointed this doesn’t do 4K is it really a total dealbreaker… Trying to convince myself 😂
@ThinkMediaTV2 ай бұрын
I think for most creators this is more than enough for what they are doing 😂
@OgDj2024Ай бұрын
No 4K!? You can only use RODE mics when connecting a RODECaster Pro!? Also, you still have to do “MOST” of your recording with 4K cameras!? When I first saw this device come across my feed, I was actually excited about it. But the more research I do, the wind gets knocked out of my excitement more and more. For something that cost $1,100 + tax and a protection plan, none of those things should be an issue. I really like the technology that this device offers, and I would like to have one. But, the purpose of an upgrade or adding to your workflow is to make things easier, more feasible, and hopefully fun. I understand that RODE decided not to make this device 4K, so that it can be affordable. But I wonder, 🤔 what would be the price if they added the 4K??
@zoukchata2 ай бұрын
why on earth didnt they add 4k option….
@ThinkMediaTV2 ай бұрын
We aren't totally sure. I think because most streaming is still done in 1080p, but we want to record in 4K so it is a bit of a bummer.
@zoukchata2 ай бұрын
@@ThinkMediaTV ok so i was watching other vids, and they were mentioning how 4k can potentially give some problems based on the majority devices still on 1080p… Rode wanted ZERO problems (i guess zero chance of customer “returns” or calls)… which makes sense. Also, they wanted to keep costs “down” from $1200 lol.
@ThinkMediaTV2 ай бұрын
@@zoukchata makes sense. I respect that!

To be fair, they're doing a lot of live processing for pip, graphics, keying, auto-switching, etc. I think 4k caused enough headaches for the processor they were using that they saved it for the Rodecaster Video Pro
