This is how robots should look: like robots, not humans. Reachy is truly adorable and non-offensive. Nowhere near the uncanny valley, because It has its own identity and do not try to pretend to be something It's not. It's perfect.

We can make robots look cute without making them human. In fact , their mechanical features make them cute. See: Cutieroid project. Even a robot meant to distinctly resemble a human, with this goal in mind, will still look better than one meant to resemble a human 100%

This may seem less threatening because it can't walk, so it can't come to your bed and stand over you while you sleep. But have you noticed that it COULD walk on its two hands if it had to? Or if a malicious hacker made it do so? And then it could watch you sleep, and all my nightmares would come true after all.

A practical aplication for this: If you can put some locomotion system, they can be rented by factory and used for managers and executives to follow productive processes without having to leave their rooms or be exposed to dangerous machines. With some AI it can be used to document process and measure times of artesanal labor for furniture factory as an example.

@PollenRobotics
@PollenRobotics 4 жыл бұрын
