Ywp, reality seems incestuous in F. H. The girl, the boy, and god are all tonic... perhaps they're the "holy trinity"... but then since the subdom is "mom" and the 2-kid is also subdom... creepy incestuous stuff here... like the boy can be a mom, the dog can be the dad or the dad the dog when the mom puts a leash on him and some leather clothes...

If you need to know ----- a major chord is formed by taking any note (the root of the chord, which gives the chord its name), go up 4 half-steps (a half step is the very next note, white or black). The note you land on is the "third" of the chord. Then, from that note (the third) go up 3 half steps (the note you land on is called the "fifth" of the chord). The root, the third, and the fifth makes up your major chord. Major chords sound "happy." For a minor chord, you start with the root, go up 3 half steps to the third, then 4 half steps from the third to the fifth. No matter how you flip the three notes of a chord around (called inversions), it is still the same chord, with the same exact name. Inversions is a whole different lesson, but this will give you the idea of how to build chords.

Once you have a firm grasp on this very solid, fundamental theory portion of music everything else about it makes sense. This is where the real creativity and magic of composition happens and you can literally create music in any style. It all comes down to these basic chord families and you can expand from there, getting into more complex chords and exploring a wide range of sounds. Music is great therapy and just understanding the basics of it opens up a whole world of creativity and exploration.

I learned about chord families from my first teacher, who is now in her 90s, and she learned from her teacher, but with a slightly different structure than yours. This made learning and remembering it a snap! I learned it the following way: 1 Tonic - Mom 2 Supertonic - Oldest Boy 3 Mediant - Oldest Girl 4 Subdominant - Grandmother (father's mother) 5 Dominant - Dad 6 Submediant - Little Sister 7 Leading Tone - Baby Brother

@@jetsparks17 Not creepy. Cringy. Christians will find any excuse to put god wherever they can. The subject here is chord families and the uploader found it necessary to draw an analogy with human families and god. "We will call it god because it's the foundation of the family" a belief that not everyone has. I came here to learn music theory and I'm seeing childish graphics representing a conservative family. Guess who is the sub dominant in the family: Mom. Yeah this is cringy.

the V7 chord is when Daddy comes home drunk and starts yelling at mommy, causing a lot of extra tension which is relieving when resolved to the I chord. If it resolves to a Sus4 chord, that's when the marriage is still a little unstable and Daddy has to sleep on the couch. A V7#9b13 chord is when Daddy's arguing with Mommy about whether or not he's sleeping with Sheryl from work and who gets to keep the kids after the divorce.
