I've played American made guitars since I was a Teen, all from the mid 70''s I just honed in on that era, basically from when I was 10 years old, Guild, Fender, Gibson, due to injury, Economy & lack assistance to get back to work. I've lost those treasures, My 74 Guild F-50 I miss the most, along with a Guild S300D Electric. just great guitars. I got to work in a Vintage Shop in Houston was able to repair, restore guitars, & it is how I got these two Guitars, giving up half my paycheck for weeks. I can't say enough about the quality of Guilds, the necks, fret boards, & the tone. I got quite spoiled playing them. Hats off to the Custom Shop, I sold new Guilds during the Early 90's, it was a pleasure, & yes, 1 is not enough, I always wanted the 12 String mate to my Jumbo F-50, you might Remember Stevie Ray doing an acoustic set on a 12 String Guild. Enough said. great work!

I had purchased a Guild Stuart X-500 in 68' or 69' and the bridge moved when I changed the strings and I didn't know what to do so I called Guild and they told me to bring it to the factory. At that time, they were in Hoboken,N.J.. It was an experience i will never forget!

I have a 1979 Guild F212XL NT (mahogany). Stunning chime with power. Guild makes the best 12 string guitars.

Thanks for the video; nicely done. I own a 1978 Guild D-40. Lot's of fun to play. Would love to tour the Guild factory.

Congratulations to Guild for the great instruments and the history. One observation though: the employees that are finishing and sanding the guitars are not wearing masks (at least in the video). Their families would feel much safer knowing that they're using the appropriate safety equipment.

I absolutely love Guild acoustic guitars, I like their electrics but their acoustics are the best. I own 2, and there's a jumbo in my future.

Guild made truly great guitars in the past and they still make some very fine, fairly priced, instruments. I was thrilled to see they were starting a Custom Shop. But the online shop is a spectacular disappointment. When you go to the site you get a page showing the Orpheum Series, a bunch of pre-designed, pre-made guitars, priced from $4800 to $5200 (much cheaper than the Martin customs!), all of which are probably very nice instruments. But there are *no* custom options. Martin used to have an online custom shop that allowed you to "build" & get a price (usually $10k and up, up, up) on a guitar with whatever options you wanted, with lots of choices. (Now they just refer you to a dealer - too bad for those of us who want to fantasize). Guild's online "Custom" shop is just a new line of guitars. That's it. Nothing custom about it. I guess one couldn't expect anything different from Fender, the mass-production people. The upside is that Guild still makes a lot of guitars that are very much worth what you pay for them - unlike Martin.

The irony is that the 90% of the sound comes from a player’s hands.

Yes and no. Cheap products always have compromises that will limit the person using it at some point. This goes for everything from race cars to guitars.

That's your experience and that's good. I've had over 100+ American Made Acoustics all brand new since 1979. Guild D-55'S, D-52, D-50, D-40 etc...made in Rhode Island, Tacoma and now in here close to my town in Oxnard California. All were great to me and the ones's I still have I enjoy. They are all great from all the factories! Just like my Gibson's made in Kalamazoo...Bozeman and my Martin D-45, HD-35, HD-28..on and on. All great!

The best Guilds that ever existed? Not so sure about that. Guilds were always superbly made and their tibers were always of the finest quality. The real problem for me is that since Fender closed down Guild's Westerly plant, where is the continuity that makes a Guild a Guild? This company has seen so many changes that I wonder if the reproduction of 50s or 60s Guild models could more rightly be described as Guild copies. As for Guild guitars in the style Guild might have made if Guild was around in the thirties, Alfred Dronge must be turning in his grave!

The level of BS from Ren is absurd. No one cares who you are, i wouldnt buy your gibsons, and you didnt save guild. No Johnny Smith Artist Awards? No custom orders? The Guild company is almost 10 years later still recovering from this elitist gibson attitude.
