The ENA 4 from JURA offers an affordable yet impressive super-automatic espresso experience. With the Intelligent Pulse Extraction Process, the machine optimizes extraction times for barista-level espresso shots and grinds exceptionally fast in order to extract as much flavor as possible from your espresso.
The ENA 4 from JURA is a minimally designed, intuitive one-cup machine that grinds exceptionally fast in order to extract as much flavor as possible from your espresso. JURA’s Intelligent P.E.P., or Pulse Extraction Process, changes how coffee is brewed based on the drink selected, by pulsing water at different frequencies for espresso and espresso doppio. Not to mention, the ENA 4’s unique water tank adds a touch of tasteful asymmetry to this ultra-modern, chic machine.

I’ve had two Jura coffee machine over the years very convenient for making coffee the water filters have to be purchased from jura ,you cannot buy cheaper generic versions now that work.and the jura are much more expensive .Also I found the coffee eventually had a slightly muddy taste,i followed all the cleaning cycles as per the manual.I think the coffee grinders in the machine lose their edge..The machines are very convenient, but now I own separate components grinder,lever espresso machine etc and make really good coffee every time and have not looked back,if you just want coffee bean to cup is ok but long term it’s better to get a proper individual outfit especially a good grinder which is crucial .

Hi Nick, Thanks for your comments. Automatic bean to cup machines are incredibly convenient and produce a consistent quality that's better than what you'll get at mass market cafes. That said, semi-auto espresso with outboard prosumer level grinder and high-end machines does have the potential to make higher quality espresso that's better than what you can get at all but the very best specialty cafes. Of course there's a lot more effort involved along with more knowledge and skill. The majority of automatic machines use ceramic burrs in their grinders which stay sharp for a very long time - like many 100s of kilograms of grinding. Marc

The Claris and Clearyl filters are an ingenious combination of a charcoal water filter and a single use water softener. If you cut one open you will find about 50% water softener resin beads and 50% activated charcoal granules. The resin beads remove the calcium and the charcoal does the chemical and contaminant filtering. They do a fabulous job of preventing calcification scale, as well as cleaning up the water. I stick with Jura machines 100% because of this and have several, you can't go wrong. Occasionally you need to tear them down and overhaul the brew group, install a new membrane pressure regulator, and change out the grinder burrs. There's plenty of videos here on youtube. It's an easy afternoons work, just brew up an espresso or coffee to get you started!

@@Wholelattelovepage it seems lots of folks think "stamping" the coffee yourself produces a better shot. do you agree??? be honest. and, if so, what machine do you like the most for that job? remember, i only do espresso. no need for milk. i just want a quality shot at a good temperature. can you direct me? THANKS
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage Жыл бұрын
@@infomercialguy Hi, by stamping (tamping?) I'm guessing you are referring to a semi-automatic machine with separate grinder? Yes, with that setup potential quality is better. There's a learning curve and not nearly as convenient as the bean to cup machines. There are many options in the semi-auto product range. For espresso only you can range from the Gaggia Classic Pro which does include steaming capabilities: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-classic-pro It's considered the best value in premium entry-level espresso machines. It's ready to brew in 5-10 minutes from turn on which is about as fast as it gets in semi-automatic machines. Or move up to a compact premium level entry-level E61 group machine with no steaming capabilities like the ECM Puristika: www.wholelattelove.com/products/ecm-puristika-single-boiler-espresso-machine Whatever semi-auto you go with be sure and budget for a quality flat burr grinder and the time to develop the skills to operate properly. Most important is learning the fairly simple process of dialing in grind size - that's key to producing excellent espresso! Marc

Hi there. I just purchased the ENA 4 and am having trouble with pre-ground coffee. I tried making a black coffee a few times and it seems pretty watered down. Any suggestions?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 жыл бұрын
Hi m, Thanks for the question. What grind size is your pre-ground? It needs to be ground fine. A coarser grind intended for drip coffee will not produce good results - watered down. Look for pre-ground coffee with "espresso" on the label. Marc

Does this make “regular” American coffee or just large espresso flavored coffee. If I want a Dunkin’ Donuts or McDonalds coffee- will this get me close if I buy those beans?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 жыл бұрын
Hi VK, Thanks for the question. The machine can make a regular coffee. If doing larger cups it's best to set the machine's grind size coarser to avoid over-extracting the coffee and getting bitter flavors. The coffee made will reflect the flavor of the beans.

@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 жыл бұрын
Hey FP, Thanks for the comment - it's a common one. The thing is the size and geometry of the brewing chamber in automatic machines and the coffee dose amount is quite different than the PF's/filter baskets of semi-autos. The result is a shorter extraction time.
@pfa231
@pfa231 2 жыл бұрын
@@Wholelattelovepage I don't have much experience with automatic machines, to be honest. But this June, while on vacation, I had some mid-tier Saeco, and I played with it, trying to get at least half-decent result. Unfortunately, no matter what I did (with decent fresh medium-roast beans), I wasn't able to get anything that I would be able to drink without sugar or milk. I have strong suspicion that it just can't grind fine enough and tries to get to a pressure by means of brew chamber geometry and pressurized valves, but don't know for sure. At any rate, Gaggia Classic + Sette will produce leaps and bounds better coffee at the cost of a bit more space and effort.
@shellderp
@shellderp 2 жыл бұрын
@@pfa231 yes the cheap machines suck. Jura are much better than other automatics in my experience. Semi automatic espresso is easier to do well at cheaper prices but less convenient

Hi AP, Thanks for the comment. These machine are about convenience and consistent quality. Can they make what a serious barista can with the right tools? Probably not. But I can say what they produce is generally better than what you'll be served in the vast majority of chain shops at a much lower long term cost and incredible convenience. Marc
@Microang
@Microang 2 жыл бұрын
@@Wholelattelovepage you are absolutely right that they are cheaper long term, just like any decent coffee machine, I'm simply saying that for the price you could get a real espresso machine and a grinder which can make better coffee with a little practice, and it can also do milk drinks. For $1000, i find it absurd that this machine has no milk options at all and you would have to pay more for a higher end model. I have never seen an automatic that didn't do milk drinks, but to each their own I guess, I'm sure someone wants this...

But has a CUBAN person approved of this machine? There’s no better espresso than a Cuban one. Everywhere else makes the espresso extremely watered down and weak. I like my Espresso strong and with bold flavor. Until I don’t see an advertisement with a Cuban person approving of a machine, I don’t think the machine is capable of producing GOOD QUALITY espresso.

Hi TBW, We need to get a Cuban on our tasting panel! Until then espresso quality is a function of bean selection, grind size, strength setting and drink volume.
@TheBullishWriter
@TheBullishWriter Жыл бұрын
@@Wholelattelovepage I disagree. Machines have the capability of producing great quality espresso, especially those that pour out good crema. I wasn’t impressed with the crema on this machine based on what I saw, and the color of the espresso was too black and looked watered down. Is the machine using too much water perhaps? I don’t know. And since I have no way of knowing what the drink tasted like that’s why I’m saying a Cuban person needs to approve a machine for me to believe it has the ability to make good espresso. Especially when you’re going to spend a good chunk of change on one you can’t even sample the coffee from ahead of time.
