I had never heard of this until right this moment. Thank you for the enlightenment. It makes me think of the gematria tapestries in the Leningrad Codex (Leningradensis) or Petrograd Codex. It has that pull and meaning to it that is full of spirituality.

The written word grants mankind the ability to speak down through the ages into the future. The beautiful Holy Words were understandably revered and it makes sense to create Illuminated Text, much as it makes sense to create beautiful iconography.
