I would definitely throw something across a 5 foot truck bed that somehow extends to be longer I like the idea of a hard sided tent, but I need my tent to be below the roofline. This seams a lot more practical design and affordable compared to the carbon fibre one I’ve seen.

how about a 3in. port on the side for a diesel heater or 12v a/c.

Hey David, great thoughts, more to come!

@antishanty why did you opt for the hard side panels to be attached to the roof rather than the floor? I think the thickness of the tent closed will shy people away if they have an SUV due to overall height and aerodynamics, but for people with pickup trucks mounting to shortened racks over their bed would keep this under cab height. I love the innovation here, can't wait to see the final design!

Hey Chris! Great question. The version shown here is our RTD-1-C (Cargo) We have the hard-sided panels nested in the roof so that the entire bottom portion of the unit serves as cargo storage for things like surfboards, skis, snowboards, camp gear, etc. As mentioned, this is the prototype shown, and it features roughly 28 cubic feet of cargo space available. We have a RTD-1-S (Slim) in development for folks who don't want/need the cargo area and prefer the lower profile. More to come! ⚡

I'm waiting for the update to order. I like this for my kids but would like a floor access to the inside of my vehicle.

You guys make cool stuff. My advice it needs a diet. 300lbs is a lot of mass and has to effect the off road capability of truck. I know girth matters but any way to make it lower profile? Side entry would be a must for us old dudes. Not sure I could do the 5 13 twist to enter from rear.
@ANTISHANTY2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bart Man! This is our first generation prototype and there are quite a few updates in the works. We have a SLM model in development that will not have the cargo box feature and will have a much lower profile. Side entry will absolutely be on the production models. Happy Trails!

I guess ya'll will add a side awning feature since the footprint is pretty big and I got no where to attach my Thule awning.

Hey BW T! It will depend on which roof rack you use, many will have mounting options available.

I really like this! My concern would be setting it up in the rain. It seems like everything inside would get soaked.
@jwiereng2 жыл бұрын
yep. I don't like to get my bedding wet. I like the hard walls. I would be happy to have this roof top dwelling, and get fast a setting it up in rain.
@jwiereng2 жыл бұрын
maybe if all the folding wall folded up to attach to the roof. they would shield the bedding from rain whilst setting up.

The same when breaking camp - the wet outsides of panels end up adjacent to dry insides as they're folded away it seems. For dry weather - perfect!

This will work for pick up trucks where it's tucked in against wind drag. How about T4R?

Very very cool. Just curious though could you make it a little bit more air dynamic for all the electric vehicles hitting the market or at least give it a wind fairing?
