I like your tip about warm temps and warm water being more agreeable to the novice retriever, makes sense but I didn't know this. when I have taught dogs to retrieve I start of course out of the water and I use the phrase/command "bring it here" when they bring it back to me. I capture that behavior and time the command to arrive just as they start to come back. Then when they hit the water I think it helps reel them in.

we just got a new GSP pup and first off I wanted to thank you for all your videos they are very informative and cant wait to get started on training her. I do have a question, what e-collar would you suggest I get? Like I said we currently have a 4 month old pup and we will be getting her a mate down the road so I would like it to be expandable to at least 2 possibly 3 dogs. not looking to break the bank but something that will do the job and be reliable.

Not true at all. Obviously you have NO first hand experience for your opinion. But I will agree with you that a training collar has no part in a puppies introduction to water, what so ever!

me myself do you understand that it is a vibration collar not a shock collar! It only vibrates on the dogs neck. Like you cellphone vibrates on your pocket.

You’re releasing your dog into the woods, often where you can’t see them. E collars often have GPS, vibration, sounds... however if you’re telling your pup to LEAVE IT when they’re headed to a venomous snake, having a means of long distance correction can be life saving.

Possibly the worst training video I’ve ever seen! The dog wasn’t trained too recall properly?? Lot more work was needed in that before the pup was moved onto anything else?
