Having a second person to serve as a model is very helpful and distinguishes this video from all the other Zhan Zhuang videos, respect and gratitude for a job well done!

This is an excellent tutorial on standing. The only thing I would add it the timing. I agree that 15 minutes is a good time to stand for, but I remember when i was a beginner standing for 5 minutes was a marathon. mainly for my arms. So for some people I would even suggest two minutes at the beginning. To encourage you, when i first got to 45 minutes, how i felt afterwards was a very different experience. Time was different.

Vielen Dank! The more I practice Tai Chi the more I find Zhang Zhuang finds the essence of my practice. Great tutorial!

I've stood with my weight on my toes with my gut forward all my life and just in the last few months have noticed it through tai chi practice. Now for a few minutes a day I rest my weight back on my heels. It's a wholly more connected feeling to the ground than I'm used to. I find I sit this way too at the computer, like I'm trying to disconnect my top half and rest it on my thighs for some reason. Many times a day I notice I'm amped up and forward again and have to consciously override it. This video is good timing since it's pretty much exactly what I've been trying to do on my own. Thanks for the instruction

I’m so grateful to see you teaching Wu Ji or the horse dances as I was taught to call it at the time of my internalization of cultivating Chi⚡️The being of beginning in the void and the self healing techniques took a lot of practice. Four months is what it took me to just stay up right properly, where is posture correction done by my teacher. He has guided me and I’m still so grateful now to see you really sharing the proper positions to body stance in order to attain healing and attaining Chi☯️ thank you from Fort Worth Texas USA🇺🇸

Excellent video. Having a person to act as the model helps the tutorial. Though I wouldn't do standing qigong when it's snowing. Apart from tightening due to the temperature I have visions of becoming a snow man and icicles hanging from the underside of my arms, making them heavier.

My thought: when breathing in, the angle of the lower spine will move out a little; allow that to naturally occur. But on the out breath you can pull the lower spine down (slightly) and in. Same with the upper spine and chin: a natural in breath, but on the out breath elongate the upper spine by pulling it up a little (which minimizes the upper spine curve, just as the lower spine, by coming down and in (on the out breath) minimizes the lower spine curvature) and the head also elongates as the chin comes down a tad... in other words, on the out breath the spine elongates, minimizing its curvature, and the head and hip move slightly closer to each other. Anyway, that seems to work for me. As far as the feet during t'ai chi & zhan zhuang, I purposefully try to put more weight and focus on the inner parts of my feet (look up "The 3 nails" by WILLIAM CC CHEN) because I habitually & unconsciously put my weight on the outer parts of my feet [known as underpronation or supination] when I walk, which is a bad habit I'm trying to fix). I'm also focused on K1 (YONGQUAN).

Hey thanks for the video, Zhan Zhuang is fascinating! May I ask, do you have any advice on automatic movements? Sometimes when standing my body shakes and jerks or wants to do crazy movements. Should you go with it, or try to stand still? Many thanks.

such exercise should not be done outside in the extreme cold wintry weather ? is not good for the bones/ should be done indoor ? perhaps ?
@thedukeofnuts2 жыл бұрын
From what I've read from Master Lam Kam Chuen, this exercise shouldn't be done outdoors when it's raining or cold...
@gjigaqaquj2 жыл бұрын
I heard yuan xiu gang essentially say in a video that cold weather is hard on your tendons, you shouldnt do stretching in the cold unless you are very flexible. Once you have the flexibility, there is much less risk of pulling a tendon or muscle.
@romedbucher2854 Жыл бұрын
I cannot recognise the problem with doing it outdoors. Strain on the tendons? What strain? If you feel strain in the tendons, you do something badly wrong. Just do what feels comfortable. If it feels unpleasant to stand in the cold, go indoors. Personally, I feel indoors is rather suffocating. Where I live, they say: there's no bad weather, only bad clothing.

Do you recommend having the tip of the tongue lightly and relaxed touching the soft palate?I have found this is very helpful in relaxing the jaw,tongue and neck.....thanks so much for your great videos. Also,don't your hands and head/neck get cold in the winter?
@peterluxus73822 жыл бұрын
In my personal experience it helps to circulate the energy in your body if you touch with your tongue your palate. But you will notice that you only need this when the flow of energy becomes abundant. Only then most techniques begin to make sense. Therefore zhan zhuang is the foundation of qigong.
