Good info. My key take away is….DON’T GET CUT! Accidents happen but often because the person screwed up, therefore preventable. Best to be prepared…I carried a first aid kit in my backpack for literally 30 years, never needed it, also never swapped out those definitely expired bandages. Then dumbass burned his hand in a stupid accident, had to break out the kit and wrap my hand. Embarrassing for sure. I’ve upgraded my first aid kit but I need add another tourniquet. Need to take a more hardcore first aid course too but time, money, blah blah excuse excuse…thanks for sharing your knowledge!

EXCELLENT & ACCURATE information!!! Thank you! I have rarely heard a doctor, nurse or paramedic so concisely relay the information! This is coming from a 50 yr experienced (critical care, emergency care) RN. Again, WELL DONE (or as said as a USN Corpsman) BRAVO ZULU!!!

Fantastic information there, anybody that is out in the woods with an axe with a saw with a knife should know this. Thank you ever so much. 😊👊🔥

Sadly have seen this more than once in the OR. It can happen rapidly and if not prepared for will be catastrophic.

Nice visuals and points. It is also worth mentioning that all bleeding can be dangerous, even slow bleeds over long periods can produce similar effects. Bleeding of any kind should be treated as potentially life threatening. Thank you for putting this info out there. Robert, Critical Care Paramedic

Putting powdered alum directly onto a bleeding leak can help slow or stop bleeding too. It stings, but works. The styptic pencils we apply to a razor nick are made of alum. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

Short but very crucial information. Sounds like you might be a Medic in the army. Cheers Digger.!

Thanks Josh. Prostrate cancer treatment radiation burns & blood thinners had me on my toes with a spouse frequently needing transfusions and getting cuts tumbling. The visual really helps as does the stopping bleeds run down👍

Excellent demonstrations... I teach PHTLS to EMTs, Medics, Nurses and MDs and use a similar approach.

Cayenne pepper helps stop bleeding! Of course that is not enough for a life threatening bleed.. but never hurts to drink water with 1/4th teaspoon cayenne when your are bleeding!

Sir, I’m a bit confused here. You said that low blood volume can occur with as little as a loss of 10% of our blood volume. Then demonstrated a 20% loss, by dumping out 1.2 of the six liters. I’ll watch the rest of the video because I want to learn. Maybe an explanation will follow? Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

I always have Quikclot in my first aid kit. Stops bleeding almost immediately
@jackglockstar Жыл бұрын
Sort of. It's not as great as movies make it. And doctors hate it for removal.
@cultural_lettuce1 Жыл бұрын
I hate the quickclot powder; It's very difficult to get into a deep wound with arterial bleeding, frequently blows into your eyes with wind/rotor wash, and docs hate to clean it out. I prefer combat guaze which is guaze that's impregnated with quickclot. It's pretty expensive, and while it is shown to stop bleeding quicker than regular guaze, it actually doesn't increase survivability in the long run over regular compressed guaze.
