Do you have a video going over an INCH type of bag where we would need it incase of nuclear winter etc? With ww3 possibilities my family and I would love to have that sense of security from an end all be all bag if there ever was nuclear war.

That particular fruit may have been slightly unripe, resulting in a somewhat astringent flavor and a greener appearance. Ideally, these fruits should be consumed once they have naturally fallen from the vine, as this indicates optimal ripeness and readiness for consumption.😁👍

There is absolutely no way one would find those unripe seeds to be sweet, the sugary gelatinous pulp has not even begun to form around the clearly immature seeds in this fruit. Even once the pulp has formed, the fruit still must mature and produce sugars before being palatable. Having eaten an early passion fruit numerous times, those seeds probably tasted like watered down cucumber at best.

That is far far far away from being ripe. Should not ever need a knife to liberate the internal fruit sac either. A simple pinch and crack to the skin and it easily peels off when ripe

It’s really sad you have to clarify that you have to take the lid off. I hope no one ever complained about not getting any water in their bottle while the lid was on🤷‍♂️

So, let’s see this all together, and total weight, because I’m thinking all this steel and waxed canvas is gonna be HEAVY, and in a survival situation that’s not what you want.

Well I’m just passing thru, but had to add for optional snare material I was at Walmart looking for leader wire for fishing saltwater , it was solid wire stiff in a coil and it was expensive for the amount they gave ya , I accidentally found what they call beading wire over in the craft section , it thin multi strand stainless steel wire that’s plastic coated and is really strong and it’s cheap like 4-5 bucks for a small spool ,it can be tied in a knot like fishing line I’ve caught a 5’ ft black tip shark on it and he couldn’t chew thru it , it could be a item ya might be interested in for your survival pack 🤔

Do you have any thoughts on the Vietnam era solid green ponchos compared to the modern camo versions? I acquired two of the older ones at a recent estate sale. Their label stamp said their manufacturer was Electro Plastic Fabrics, June, 1961. They seem a little thicker and heavier than today's (nylon??) ponchos. I'm thinking this would equal better waterproofing; not sure about durability and rip resistance, though.

What are you talking about dude! This fruit will ripen as any other and should be eaten then. This is one of the most delicious hardy fruits you will encounter in and around my zone 6 area. Most closely resembling the taste of green apple jolly ranchers to my palette. When ripe they will easily detach from the plant if slightly tugged at.

Great review! My question is why you chose the Carbon versus the SS? I plan on buying one, but I'm not sure which version to choose. Basically using the knife for camping, hiking, food prep. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for a great video! I did not know about the thumb assist for the smaller rods, game changer for me! I just thought the smaller were lower quality, because they performed worse with knife =p

I have a stainless steel one, and I was not initially thrilled with it. Found it a tad heavy and I did not like the weight distribution (I tend to slightly favor forward weighted knives), or how the handle tapers down forward. Having used it a bit I've warmed up to it some, though it took me a while. I'm still thinking through on how to use it. It's certainly a good tool.

If you rub your finger at the side of your nose next to your nostril where it meets your cheek or behind your ear you'll get a little bit of oil from your skin. Rub that on he top of your spindle to help 'grease' it & reduce friction as well

People who buy modern Kephart knives rarely understand that this was a food processing knife first and foremost. Kephart would have used his pocket knife for wood carving. He processed veggies and meat/game/fish with his sheath knife. Most modern "outdoorsmen" live off processed food. Living off the land and from scratch cooking is something thy are more or less clueless about. Take care and God bless.

I purchased mine before watching this particular video. I also made the decision to get it with the leather sheath. I went and got a dangler from Casstrom, for 20 some odd bucks as well. I have zero doubts I'll be anything but thrilled with this knife. Great video as well.

Hi Josh, how's things? Regarding our preference for 'naked' high carbon steel knives, you say that they are good for using for 'flint n steel' fire starting; I've tried this and yes, you can produce a spark but, in my experience, it is much harder to get sparks and they are weaker because, although it's high carbon, it is tempered rather than just hardened. Wouldn't it be better to just make sure that you have a proper steel striker with you, seeing as they are small and can be carried in your pocket, clipped to your belt or hung yound your neck? Of course, I see the point you're making, that you may not have a steel with you, but isn't this what Survival EDC is all about? I say this because, personally, I prefer stainless steel since you don't have to worry about rust.

Im one to be prepared for everything... so my pockets are already heavy with gear. Then in my previous pack list, redundancy and non-essentials were a real issue. I've slimmed down a lot and realized that with my skills, I do not need as much gear. The weight was going to make things worse, more so than what the items were going to provide to make things better. Light and simple means agility and endurance.
