Very nice you are joining the Blender bandwagon. To do a non uniform scale with the S key you press S then shift and the axis you don't want. Say to scale in X and Y you press S and then shift Z ;)

This should be a really good addition to your channel's content. I've done a couple of Blender projects using tutorials from other channels. It's similar enough to Maya that I didn't feel totally lost, but I wouldn't abandon Maya entirely unless Blender became an industry standard.

It's already pretty much an industry standard at least on game dev when studios like Epic and Ubisoft are sponsoring Blender team and using it in their pipeline

As of April 17th just released their "Industry Standard" keymap which is Maya & Unity mapping. So you posted this after release, since your answer provides zero pertinent information about your choice I guess you didn't know.

Thanks Mike. wise choice brothe.. am too moving to blender. not because is free, but because its getting up there with the best.. also, remember that blender will surpass maya or max in a couple of years.. simply because we have two new generations of kids behind us that will preferred using blender.. you cannot stop the new upcoming generations Mike. not me, you or auto desk..... if auto desk wants to compete. them too would need to give maya or max for free....and move to a younger upcoming audience.

Hey Mae, not a choice at all, just another piece of software in the toolbox, no more, no less. And where do you get the notion I am trying to stop anyone ? I sense you have an axe to grind with Autodesk and that is fine, but please don't use me or my channel to do that ok. I just made a Blender tutorial because my viewers asked me to, it's that simple.

I love Max n Maya been using them for the past 15 years, in fact I remember opening Blender 12 years ago. because why not, it was free. but as soon I started. 5 minutes took for me to uninstall it.. BEING FREE.!! I took it out from my pc because it SUCKED ASS. version 2.8xx comes along. I gave it a second chance. it changed my mind not because its free. be because. when am using blender. it dont feel like you are working on a 3d software. its very fun to use. its got one of the sexiest UI out there. would I change a couple of things. Yes I would but overall its fun to work with.. stop being defensive about it.. more and more people will ask you for Blender stuff. might us well join the force. hahahaah and I think am jumping ship little by little because Blender has tons of potential. to become the standard in a couple of years.
