Introduction To Ethiopian Food and Coffee | Injera, Shiro Wot and More

Ever wondered what Ethiopian food and coffee was like? I put together this food guide after spending several weeks there, from busy Addis Ababa to quiet villages.
I'm a huge lover of Ethiopian food and in this video I'm going to introduce you to a few staples. This is by no means a list of all the incredible dishes the country has to offer - Ethiopian cooking is extremely varied. Instead I'm going to give you an overview of a few things you'll find on the menu of every Ethiopian restaurant.
Our basic introduction to Ethiopian cuisine starts with shiro and will introduce you to other classics like beyaynetu, firfir and of course the ubiquitous injera. But it doesn't stop there - I've also included several drinks! We'll talk about Ethiopian coffee, beer, tej and even Ambo - a very special carbonated water the locals love.
I'm vegan so I've not included popular dishes like doro wat, a chicken stew, or kitfo, which is raw minced meat. But now that you know they exist you'll be able to check them out elsewhere if you'd like! :D

Girl vs Globe when you do, I go to Merkato. They have some pretty good vegetarian/vegan options there but I know there is a stictly vegan/vegetarian Ethiopian restaurant across the street from it as well :)

Thank you for loving our "not that marketed" great cuisine. Ethiopians love and enjoy our food but we haven't tried hard to share our cuisine with the world. One reason being not colonized by westerners our food is unique not that influenced by other cuisines. But we only kept it to our selves not thriving hard to share our cuisine with the world and enjoy it with all of you. In this day and age where globalization impact all of us, I really appreciate you trying to put our cuisine in the spot light. Our great cuisine deserves to be discovered and enjoyed with the world.

I live in a BIG Ethopian neighborhood, me myself a Ethopian, and there are two Ethopian restaurants, one of them great but not better than the other one, it is AMAZING, every Ethopian new year (September 11/12) they have this huge ceremony, with food coming from everyone in the neighborhood, a lot bring doro wat which is the best food in the world, at it was amazing!
