Saturn 2 is the most complete and the most feature-packed piece of software. Wanna add harmonics? Saturn. Wanna modulate? Yes. But parallel multiba...? Ezpz Saturn. Compress? Expand? Halftime? EQ? Destroy? No worries, Saturn got you covered. They call it saturation/distortion unit I call it Sound Transforming Engine.

AFAIK there is no way an imager will produce good results in physics. So I guess there will be no plugin by Fabfilter - just for quality reasons. Correct me, if I am wrong. I for some reason started out using 0 Fabfilter tools, happily fiddling away. Then every now and then I got one recommended over whatever I was using, and each and every time the thought that I was shooting myself in the foot by not using the Fabfilter tool entered my mind. For some reason I repeated this mistake with EQs, compressors, limiters, you name it. But I have finally come to my senses and ditched anything for a Fabfilter version when there is one. Without exaggeration, I feel that the tools strike the perfect balance between not being dumbed down, while being simple to use and, very importantly, graphically showing you what is going on. I find that last one essential to understanding what the various parameters actually do. The Saturn is the latest addition to this trend. While I found it immensely more intimidating than something like a basic tape simulator, the results I got were an immediate improvement. But I can't pretend to grasp half the things this thing can do yet.
